Paris to Florence
Hi,
Four of us (two couples) will be in Paris for a week in Oct. 2005 then off to Florence for a week. What is the best transportation? Was planning on using Volare but, obviously not now. Looked on the web and the prices are horrendous-$900-would the train be more economical-what about car rental? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ever so much |
Hi sce,
You can fly Paris Orly to Pisa. You then take the train from PSA to Florence SMN (1hr). See www.whichbudget.com ((I)) |
Last Sept we flew Air France to Florence from Paris out of CDG for about $225 each. I must say it was the most cramped flight we have ever been on but at least it wasn't too long.It was actually an Irish charter that had a code share or charter with AF. At least it was not a long flight and didn't have ridiculous luggage restrictions like RyanAir, EasyJet or Volare. I know Volare is no longer in the picture.

Just booked a roundtrip flight for April Paris-Pisa for a grand total of 60euros/~$75, taxes, etc. included! But, while this is certainly most economical, Laidback has a point. You must take luggage restrictions into consideration. For easyjet: one standard piece of hand/carry-on baggage to maximum dimensions of 55x40x20cm, and a free allowance of standard checked-in hold baggage to a maximum weight of 20kgs/~40lbs. This may be a problem for some. Although, personally, I think it's fairly generous considering the price of the airfare.

I agree.

craisin - can I ask where you got your flight from Paris to Pisa and was it one way? My husband and I are travelling Paris Florence and Rome this april and I would love to fly versus taking the Artesia night train!

Sorry, just saw the website www.whichbudget.com. Thanks!

jennius, you probably found your answer already but just in case or for others that may be interested, easyjet.com and yes, that price is for roundtrip airfare with taxes, etc. included.
