Paris to Buffalo pricey
 

Flying to Amsterdam for 4 days,planned to take train to Paris for 4 days and fly back to Buffalo from there.Not going till May .Flying from Paris to Buffalo way too much $$$$$$$ do prices usually come down?

I may be wrong, but Buffalo isn't exactly an international hub, is it. Are you flying TO Amsterdam from Buffalo? May is getting on toward high season. Air fares are all up--fewer planes, more fliers, full planes.
Is it cheaper to fly back from Amsterdam? Not really understanding.

I've flown from B to P a couple of times. I drove there from Toronto to get cheaper fares and a more pleasurable experience.

No direct flights of course. I went through Charlotte one time, Philly another.

Use Kayak.

Use Kayak fare alert with daily (default is weekly) update to all the airports you are might be using. Fare alert cannot do multi-city, but the multi-city prices are somewhere around roundtrip fare to the arriving and the departing airport. What it gives you is a graph of the fare trend. You can then rely on empirical data to determine if the price you are looking on the purchase day is on the high or the low side of fluctuation. Temporary dips, if any, often last only a few days so looking the fares weekly misses these opportunities.

The total cost of any round trip ticket near the $900 to $1100 range is probably going to be reasonable. If you find total ticket prices under $1000 I should most likely purchase them without reservation as fuel costs are expected to remain very high and overall seat capacity continues to diminish.

I understand one change for the new year in advertising ticket prices is that US airlines must now show the total cost inclusive of all taxes and fees. Come on fares which only represented a portion of what a passenger ultimately paid for his tickets should be a thing of the past so factor this change into your pricing expectations.

Research all of the ticket aggregaters and on line sellers as has been suggested by others. Lowest fares are usually found from late Monday to Wednesday so keep checking but I should not expect to see enormous additional discounts between now and this summer.

One stop trips are ok .KLM has good return flights from Amsterdam with one stop.

tweezer, I don't know about Buffalo, but we live in the Southern Tier of NY and usually fly out of New York City. We drive to Rochester and fly from there to JFK (and back). It makes for a looooong trip, but the fares out of NY are so much better, even with the ROC/JFK/ROC round trip. You might look into BUF/NYC fares - just a thought. And I always use Kayak and subscribe to their fare alerts.

Since you are a first-time overseas traveler, I'll mention this just in case . . . You should research your flights online using the "multi-city" option, not two one-way flights.

Did the multi city flight thing and it worked out quite well "ellenem" thank you.

Glad to help. I hope you found better prices using multi-city. Novice travelers sometimes don't understand this option.

You live 20 minutes from Pearson or Buffalo airport?

If the Buffalo fares are so high have you checked Pearson?

KLM is usually competitive out of Toronto.

I did check with KLM and I got 2 good flights one to Amsterdam and the back home from Paris.Makes me happy saved time and money.tyvm

Did you check AirTransat , they do reasonable multi city tickets from Toronto.
