Paris to Bruges

We are thinking of taking a couple of days and going to Bruges from Paris. Any suggestions and information would be helpful. How long a train ride, what accommodations in Bruges, restaurant recommendations? Thank you for your help.

We recently returned from a trip to Brugges and it was fantastic. We stayed at the three star Hotel Maraboe and email is [email protected] web site is user.online.be/-maraboe
It is a small hotel, great breakfast and ask for a quiet room price was under $100, new full bathrooms and delightful owner, Stephen, and they accept credit cards. You have to munch on the most fantastic chocolate from Maitre Chocolatier Verbeke at Geldmuntstraat 25 off Market Square. They close at 5pm and all day Sunday and Monday. We literally arrived with just 5 minutes until they locked up on Saturday---incredibly delicious.
We had a memorable Flemish dinner at La Dentellier located Wijngaardstraat 33. Suggest you stop by the tourist info office just steps from the train station and buy their all inclusive visitors guide--maps, walking tours and most helpful, a separate listing of streets. Enjoy !!!!

The Thalys train from Paris to Brussels is under 2 hours, and it's an hour from there to Brugges.
We enjoyed our stay at the charming t'Bourgoensche Cruyce, on 41 Wollestraat - tucked away from the street behind a little courtyard, looking out over a canal at the most picturesque spot in town (and there are SO many lovely spots!!). Our beautifully decorated double room with bath was $108 in '98. Phone: 011-32-50-33-79-26.
If you haven't already done so, try doing a search on the topic "Bruges". There are a couple of long threads with lots of good info, that are no more than a couple of months old.

We did the opposite -- Brugge to Paris. Loved Brugge! Stayed at the Hotel Ter Duinen, a very nice 3 star hotel on a canal. Marc and his wife were wonderful, even bringing us ice cubes from their own refrigerator. Spend the extra $$ for a room on a canal, wherever you stay -- well worth it. The main city center is an easy walk and we ate both nights at a great restaurant they recommended. Walk to the top of the cathedral for fabulous views of the city! Also, see the square at night. Have fun!!

e-mail: [email protected]

internet: http://uc2.unicall.be/terduinen
