Paris Theatre Question

Hi everyone,

I love going to the theatre - musicals, plays, that sort of thing - and would love to attend one or two when we're in Paris in late March.

First, where is the best place to find a schedule and/or buy tickets?

Secondly, this probably sounds like a stupid question, but are any of the shows in English?

thanks for your help as always! :)

Larger events are listed in Pariscope, available on Paris newsstands. Tickets can be purchased from FNAC, and you can do that on-line, I believe. There is some entertainment in English. There's a small free publication called the Paris Voice that typically reports it. I'm not sure whether they have a Web site or not. You might try Google. Also, there a Paris newsletter: Secrets of Paris. The latest issue, here,

http://www.secretsofparis.com/newscurrent.htm

reports on a once a week musical show on a Seine barge, based on the music of Jacques Brel, with his lyrics translated into English.

For ballet and opera at the Palais Garnier and Opera Bastille, go to www.operadeparis.fr

You can occasionally find Paris theatre in English. In November, we saw La Tentation de Saint Antoine (The Temptation of St. Anthony) at the Palais Garnier. It was performed in English with French supertitles.

despite it's name, Opera Garnier is where the ballet performs. With ballet you needn't worry about the translation. The Building is fantastic and beautiful to look at.

Any fan of the peforming arts should see a performance in the Garnier at least once in their life. It's beautiful.

Interesting, but 13 year old thread.

I see now. You are advertising.

A few days ago Amanda did something similar here, reviving old threads to advertise, and must have been reported to the moderators, who then deleted the entire threads, a couple of which had been informative up till then.

Wish they would not eliminate the whole thread. There is often good info in them.
