Paris Terminal 2E collapses

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...cdg10505231003

I am sorry to tell Fodorites that 6 people were killed in this accident.

On a more minor note, those transiting through CDG in the next few days should expect delays.

Thanks for the link. US tv news just blasted by this story this morning and I was curious to see the pictures. Another reminder that no matter what we do to "protect ourselves" we don't know what today will bring. Live like it's the last.

I don't know how safe I'd feel walking in the areas adjacent to the collapse. The pictures I saw show a continous roof of the same design of the one that collapsed.I am amazed that they would let anyone in that building before they determine what happened.

Sue, Thanks for posting this. I looked for news on it and couldn't find anything. I will be there tomorrow. Yikes!

mgmargate May 23rd, 2004 10:23 AM

The news is now saying that the entire new terminal is closed. They must determine the cause before reopening.

Please keep me updated fodorites! You guys seem to get faster knowledge of this stuff than the news is giving me. I am kinda freaking out. I will call my airline.

kel:without facts we can't help w/your problem. If you are flying into cdg I wouldn't worry to much they will reroute to another terminal.

According to the NY Times story, the terminal is primarily used by Air France and its SkyTeam partners, including AeroMexico, Alitalia, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta and Korean Air.
