Is there a taxi rate chart for Paris that would tell you the maximum price to pay to go from train stations to various parts of the city?

the following has some info on taxi rates in Paris, but prices are still quoted in francs<BR>Figure about 6 francs to the euro<BR><BR>There is no maximum you will pay, it will depend on traffic, luggage, day vs night, etc<BR>If you have a particular journey in mind, someone on this message board may be able to give you an estimate

Not sure what site Elaine is referring to (I think she forgot it), but here is one good site that gives info and rates for taxis in Paris (and in Euros in the English site)<BR>http://www.taxi-paris.net<BR><BR>I'm not sure what you are asking about the max. one should pay, but cabs are metered and so the rate depends not only on distance but waiting time, as well as zone area, times/days, etc, as Elaine has said, and you don't pay flat rates. I wouldn't try to refuse to pay a taxi fare because it was higher than I thought it should be unless I really knew the city and what I was talking about; a lot of people don't know all the various surcharges for Parisian taxis and assume they are being cheated when the fare is up to a few Euro higher than they think (there is a starting charge, as well as other things). I saw some guy on Fodors once insist he was cheated because he was charged 5F more than someone else he knew who took the same route a different time. Really, traffic delays can add on a lot, I've paid anywhere from US10 to US30 going from Gare du Nord to MOntparnasse because of that.

As others have said taxis are metered so there is no max. Be sure you take a Taxi Parisien. There is a surcharge for a taxi from a station and there is an extra charge for luggage.

Hi Rich, I just want you to be aware that Parisians are used to take buses from train stations with some luggage such as one suitcase.<BR>The other day we took , I believe it was bus 38 from Gare d'Orly to St Germain. The bus departs from the station, it was the end of a Holiday, we were returning from a day in<BR>Vaux, at least three of four older ladies came into the bus with a fairly large suit case. And everybody was happy.....

Well, like most places in Texas, the town of Paris is pretty dismal. The people are rude, the men all have two names like Billy Bob or Jimmy Don, and the women all have big hair, and...what? What did you say? Oh, I am so sorry I thought the note said Paris, Texas, not Paris Taxis.....so sorry
