Paris taxi question

I have a question about taxis in Paris. Are they strict about the rule of 2 adults in the back and one in the front? For example, if a family of 5 -- 2 parents and 3 small children -- wanted to ride in a taxi, would that be allowed or would they have to take 2 taxis? Anyone know?

Hi S,

Don't worry.

They have larger cabs.

Some are even vans.

That rule hasn't been in effect for the past 10-15 years. There are plenty of vans and station wagons to accommodate larger groups.

I agree with ira, but you need to call the taxi company before

Well, you have to call a taxi anyway, or go to a taxi stand. You can't simply hail a cab on the street. But, for example, if you're getting a cab at the airport, there are always plenty of vans and stationwagons, and you'll be directed to one if you have more than 3 people.

Thank you all so much for your very helpful replies I didn't know they had taxi vans. That's good to know.
