justineparis - Thanks for reporting and good for you for fending off the scam. I wonder how many unsuspecting people have accepted the lies and paid the 55 euros. It's sad.

By the way, I did fill out the complaint form Sarastro provided and emailed it to the address of the Préfecture de Police on the form. I made it clear that I was not seeking any kind of compensation, but wanted to add to the number of complaints they have had from this scam in the hope that a warning sign could be placed in the taxi rank queues at the stations. So far I have received no acknowledgment.

Today I received an email in response to my complaint:

Dear Madam,

By mail of the 16/09/2019, you've called my attention about the attitude of a taxi driver.I inform that despite the elements that you have transmitted,it's not possible to recognize this taxi driver becauseidon't have the registration.
no action can be given to your complaint.

From this response, I doubt that the complaint was read since I clearly stated that I didn't know the identity of the driver, but rather wanted to add my complaint to those of others in the hope that warning signage might be placed by the taxi queue at the Gare du Nord and other stations where this scam might be practiced. Oh, well, at least there was a response.
