Paris Sweet Home?

I've done a search, but there has been nothing on this agency. I know it's too soon, but I've been doing some research on apts. for my granddaughter and my trip to Paris in the fall 2010. We are on a limited budget. This agency has some very reasonably priced studios. One in particular on Rue de la Forge Royale, 75011, but I think the location might be too far out and I don't know anything about this neighborhood. Anyone have any experience with Paris Sweet Home? This one is cute too http://www.parissweethome.com/parisr...ris/php?id=530. We don't need anything fancy as we don't plan to be in the apartment much, except to sleep and shower. She doesn't mind sleeping on a sofabed. Any other suggestions for us?

This one looks good too. These prices seem too good to be true, so they probably are.

I'd avoid them. They also go by the name of Allorenta. Long story short, I got overcharged 250 Euros. In the beginning they told me not to worry, that we'd get it back with the deposit money. That never happened.

Problem is that you have to pay them via a wire transfer to a Swiss bank account and there is no store front in Paris. I was only able to deal with them via email. Naturally I got ignored when I inquired about my money.

I would suggest you go to SlowTrav.com where you can find many reviews on apartment/villa rentals and on the agnecies that coordinate the rentals: http://www.slowtrav.com/

I would absolutely NOT rent from any agency where you can find so little on them or who have some bad reviews.

Here are rental reviews: http://www.slowtrav.com/france/vr/list.asp?r=Paris

And here is a listing of the agencies on SlowTrav: http://www.slowtrav.com/france/listings/paris.asp

We also like RentVillas.com ( http://www.rentvillas.com/?utm_sourc...mpaign=general ) but have never looked at any Paris apartments they might have.

Hi Barb,

Your link doesn't work.

What's your budget?

They don't seem to have a 530 one, but the others look okay to me. The prices don't seem that unusual to me. what do you expect. These are pretty small, budget places and the on Forge Royale is about 100 euro a night. I think the one in the 5th is a pretty good deal at 563 euro if you book a whole week but it is very small, only around 20 m2. If you don't book a week, it's 100 euro a night which also doesn't seem unusual to me for a place that small. I like that location better myself (rue Royer COllard).

The other area near Ledru Rollin metro isn't too far out by my taste, but I'm just not that crazy about that part of Paris. Other folks like it, though, so that's just personal taste.

The rentvillas apt look very nice but they certainly are pricey.

I've found reasonable rentals at http://vacationinparis.com . I like that you get the keys before you leave home, pay in US dollars and receive your key deposit back quickly. We rented their St Andre des Arts 1 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath apt and were extremely satisfied. Elevator, washer, wifi included

Ole OysterMuncher! Competition is really hard for you! I see your post everywhere under different names. But, do you think that it is ethical to use this forum for your commercial purpose?

EBrien - isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

Folks - Barb's thread is almost a <u>year old</u>

It has been topped and commented on by Oystermuncher and EBrien who had a similar exchange on the only other thread where either has appeared.

Just saw that this has been topped. I'm still plowing through tons of possible apts trying to make a choice. Someone recently posted info on Lodgis, which apparently is an agency. There are some definite possibilties there, but still a little leery about sending deposit, plus agency fee. My budget is under 600 euro a week. I would prefer the 4th, 5th 6th, 14th or 3rd.

In the fall of 2008 we rented a 2bed/2bath apartment in the Marais from ParisSweetHome. You can read my review by searching my name or searching for "Marais 2bd/2bth Place du St Catherine Apartment." We had a good experience but it was my understanding that they service as a leasing agent for different owners...so I'm sure the experience is related to which owner you might get. While I usually try to find reviews before I rent an apartment, I have had amazingly good success just following my instincts. Also, if you search ParisSweetHome my review doesn't even come up. So there is a good chance that there may be reviews for the exact apartment you are looking for and it just doesn't pull up under your search.

Allorenta,

Sorry, but I'm no competitor - just a former customer. But I think you knew that already.

I only wish you would dedicate as much time answering your customer complaints directly and making right as you promised rather than trying to cover yourself by making things up on message boards.

Nov 2010. OK. I also was sketched out to use paris sweet home as I couldn't find any reviews besides this thread. And the whole swiss bank account thing sounded dodgy. But we took a gamble and went with it. It turned out totally fine. We had the Montmartre apartment, and, while quite small, it's everything a couple (or single traveler) would need. Good location, clean, with kitchen. So I say go for it.
