Paris - suggestions for extra days in France

I will be traveling with a friend to Paris in late August. We will join 10 others for seven days/six nights in Paris. Looking for suggestions for extra days in Paris/France/Brussels or poss London. The cheaper tickets are flying into London(Heathrow) and we could do a two days there and then take the train to Paris Nord Station. Have the opportunity to spend several days after the trip (up to four nights) prior to departure. Have not booked our flights yet as waiting for some great advice. Thanks in advance. (Neither of us have been to Europe; I was in Italy for two weeks 2 years ago).

The options are really endless...Alsace, burgundy, Normandy, Brittany, London, Amsterdam, Loire valley...what are you interested in? I would do some research using guide books and see what area grabs your interest. Do you have to fly out of Paris? Keep in mind your flight home and how you will get to the airport from your last location.

Maybe book open jaw or you'll eat up your savings by flying to London RT.

I am planning on flying into cdg or brussels and out of london if we want to go there. Looking fir the most variety and maybe a taste of something different than Paris. My travel companion has no idea where or what she wants to do. We are both very open to suggestions.

You need to either do some research yourself, or give us more information.

Do you want to see vineyards and drink wine in picturesque villages?

Do you want to see WWII sites?

Do you want to see another city?

Do you want to see castles?

If you give us something to work with we can perhaps narrow things down.

With your limited, and your friend's lack of Europe travels, I would suggest adding a second country. Either London or Amsterdam are an easy and quick train trip and both probably offer good air connections for your return flight. Don't over-think it, read a bit about each and pick whichever sounds most interesting to you and offers the best flight options for your return. The train to either city should be about the same price/travel time, and if you book 90 days out you can get the best fares. Both are also easy cities for new-to-Europe tourists.
