Paris Strikes

A friend from France e-mailed this morning and said that she hoped the upcoming strikes in Paris (over pensions for the elderly) didn't affect my trip. I leave Thursday. But she didn't say who was striking. Does anyone have any info?
Thanks.

All French strike news, all the time, can be found at www.infogreves.com. It gives strikes scheduled for today (mail carriers in L'yle de France), and strikes scheduled for the future. Your friend may be referring to a United Day of Action called for May 13 that will affect SCNF agents from 8 pm on Monday May 12 until 8 am on Wednesday May 14.

In November 2001, we got free entry to
the Grand Palace for "The Gold of Scythian Kings" and a few days later to Basilica St Denis because of a strike.

Of course, in February 2002, our flight from London to Paris took 3 hours with all the waiting on the tarmac because of a controller's strike.

Post this on the inside of your eyelids:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Enjoy your trip.

Hope you arrive May 2.
May 1 is the European day of demonstrations! Interesting to watch, but this year could be difficult for Americans
Be careful.

When he did, it started an epic war involving a giant horse.

You might come across wildcat strikes in the metro. A few years ago we intented to take the metro, had our tickets punched, and by the time we reached the platform there was an announcement that that particular line was on strike because of an attack against a conductor. Because of frequent attacks, the union had a policy of closing down the line in question for the rest of the day.
