Cwn, I like the Hotel de Rohan in Strasbourg; it is on a pedestrian street just opposite the cathedral. They have some parking arrangements; you could email or call them to get exact details on how that works.

We stayed a week in a gite in Bergheim. There are several gites in this village. It's small but beautiful with a good walk around the village walls, and several excellent restaurants. Parking is simple and it's a very short drive to other villages so picking out restaurants is simple. We much preferred it to Colmar.
