Paris Snooze: Flics on Blades!
On my recent Paris sojourn i saw a first for me - flics on blades - Parisian cops roller blading around the Les Halles/Beauborg area.
Then inside the Louvre pyradmid - the kind of mall under it cops again were skating around on roller blades.
Whilst for years at my local Carrefour hypermarche in France i'd seen workers skooting around on skates i'd never seen cops.
Maybe i've just been mising out something.
The roller-blading cops caused quite a stir and many a camera to click.

There are 'cops on blades' since 2001 in Paris.
A complete brigade in the 1st, several others affected to pedestrian areas, you can sometimes catch aglimpse of fantastic races between them and cars (especially around the Concorde) (and in 99% of the cases, the roller blader wins).

Not suprised. In NYC we have cops on bikes (racing bikes in high crime areas) as well as on horseback (the parks and parade duty), motorcycles etc - as well as the usual cruisers and even some on foot. (They look so cute in their little bike shorts!)
