Paris Shopping Q

Hi, will be in Paris over New Year with my girlfriend, we're in US now...any suggestions on places to see for shopping, new year sales etc...looking for clothes, shoes and stuff like that..take advantage of europe while we are there?

Appreciate any and all advice

Get the book "Born to Shop, Paris" by Suzy Gershman.

To get more advice here, be more specific as to what your looking for and what type of budget or shopping you want (high end designer, thrift store, funky young lower priced clothes, department stores . . .).

Hi
are you from the US? With the dollar to euro ratio, it's pretty difficult to 'take advantage of Europe', it feels more like the other way around.

Paris major sales start a few days after the New Year starts, but there may be some after Xmas markdowns. There are also flea markets in Paris.

hi jlm_mi..the answer to what we are looking for is "yes", all of the above.

Basically looking to take back some paris mid to high style at the best prices we can get 'em. Have done a little work and it seems Galeries Lafayette and area might provide a good all in one experience but wondered if you or anyone had a sense of off the beaten path finds or on the beaten path musts..eg in NYC midtown browse midtown and 5th for bloomies, macys etc but try SoHo for cool boutique finds...any thought?
