Paris Shopping Centres

Could someone tell me the best indoor and outdoor large shopping centres in Paris.

I suppose it depends on what you what to shop for. I guess I thought La Defense was about the best, but Les Halles and the one at Montparnasse Tower are okay, they aren't that different. Les Halles has more stores and some things the others don't, so it's more all purpose (like a Darty). Those are the only three that I can remember visiting. Except for the underground one at Louvre, I forgot about that. It's okay but doesn't have as many stores (no big dept stores that I can recall).

Not sure what you mean about an outdoor shopping centre. The only one I know of is at Bercy if you mean a special area planned for that. There are some of the older covered passages but they don't have that many stores in them that I'd consider them a great shopping experience.

There is also one just north of the the Arche de Triompe. It is in the same complex as some government offices. There is another one at Place de Italie. I think that would be in the 14th.

The bigger shopping malls are obviously in the suburbs, and there are a lot of them.

One in Paris that Christina did not mention is Italie 2 at Place d'Italie.

Reachable by metro in the inner suburbs are Bel-Est (metro Galliéni), Bercy 2 (metro Cour Saint Emilion + bus 24) -- if you cross the bridge, there is Quais d'Ivry (these malls probably house the closest Carrefour hypermarkets to each other in France), and at metro Créteil Préfecture is the very large Créteil Soleil.

Or there is a big outlet mall, La Valle Village, near Disneyland

If you start taking the RER, you have access to at least 20 malls, avalon.

Thanks for the comments - I will plan to go to Defense and Les Halles as they seem to cover everything and seem more accessible from west colombes
