Paris Sewers

Been there? What was your experience?

Thinking it might be good for a rainy day.

haven't been, but I was just reading about it in this "Ratatouille" walk: http://paris.fr/portail/viewmultimed...ument-id=31233

It may be interesting to visit the sewers after seeing the movie in its French version there.

I haven't toured the Parisian sewers but have wanted to, and all I ever get are these "looks" like I'm a crazy person to even be interested. So if you go will you post about it afterwards?

I've done Les Egouts three times through the decades but not recently

you walk along paths along the main sewers with commentary that makes it interesting.

I enjoyed it though maybe only because of the novelty

rainy day may or may not be good - if too much rain i think they close the tours

Right by Eiffel Tower so easy to include in a visit there.

we went in spring '06 and it was pretty interesting - I think the kids enjoyed it more than we (the adults) did, and they liked the idea most of all. We did it because we thought the kids wanted to, and if we had been on an adult only trip, we might have found something else.

The first time i went long ago sewer workers did the tour in boats that they punted around the sewers itself. that was a lot more fun

and the question you may think - no it does not IME stink very much

PalenQ - How do you tour now (if not in a boat)? Who does the commentary?
