PARIS - rooms for 5 available?
 

Here's a tough one...I've been searching for hotels that have triples so I can book a triple and a double for my family travelling next summer (ie. we want A/C). I was very surprised to find a room near the Louvre which actually had a few rooms for 5-6 people - Hotel Montpesier. Has anyone ever come across other hotels with this set-up? I know the triple and double would give us 2 bathrooms, but we make out just fine with only one. We prefer being near the Seine, central Paris, but will consider other areas, and maybe up to 200 - 225 Euro (?)

Also - does anyone have feedback about Hotel Montpensier? It looks fairly plain and gets mostly decent ratings from Tripadvisor.

We stayed at the Excelsior in the 5th. I can't remember but it seemed that it had a room with 5 beds but it was advertised as a quad. Try them.

What did you think of the Excelsior?

I do remember being a few past posts on people searching for rooms for 5 in Paris, and a couple suggestions. The only one I remember by name is a 1* budget hotel in the 5th, but it definitely doesn't have AC. That's the Hotel Marignan.

ON a prior post on this topic, someone said that the HOtel des Grandes Ecoles in the 5th (which is a great location and nice) has a room for 5 (two double beds and one single). I don't think it has AC, didn't used to, but you can check.

Here's another recommendation that you consider an apartment - often works out to be less expensive and more comfortable. Try to find a place with 2 bathrooms - not exactly common in Paris vacation rentals but not unheard of, either. If you take a look at www.vrbo.com you can sort the listings by number of bathrooms. Don't forget that if you book a hotel room for 5 (as opposed to a triple plus a double) you wind up with only one bathroom.

You really may want to reconsider getting two rooms. Paris hotel rooms are quite small and with 5-6 people I cannot imagine how you would even move around, let alone have room for luggage. Two rooms would give you two bathrooms which would have to be worth it with that many people.

We stayed at Montpensier two or three years ago, and we liked it. The location is very, very good, near Louvre, Royal Palalace, Rue St. Honore, Place Concorde.
WE had a room for two persons, with bathroom. The room and the bathroom were large (for France).
I do not know anything abour rooms for more than 2 persons.

Try renting an apartment, or an apartment-hotel like Citadines. Some hotels have rooms for up to six, but they are not necessarily in the center of town. I believe the hotels around Disneyland are often like this, but that's a good 2-hour commute. In the city it's hard to find because space is limited and demand for that many people in a room is very low.

Another option is to go to a hotel that can join adjacent rooms. That's a lot easier to find.

I recall a couple of posters on other travel boards who regularly stayed at the Montpensier because of the large size of the rooms. Unfortunately I don't know anything more about it, but it certainly fits your location preference.
