First of all, a view of what? Notre Dame, Sacre Couer, Eifell Tower, the rooftops of Paris, a pretty courtyard, Invalides....??
Second, you can get good hotels with nice views (depending on your choice from above) for a lot less than $500 a night.
If you'll be more specific, you'll get more help.

How about the Brighton Hotel...on Rue du Rivoli (noisy street, but gorgeous view)...IF your room is on the front.! They have little step out balconies, and it's across the street from Tuilliers Garden, to the right a little in the distance is the Eiffel Tower (and lit up at night it's magical). , to the left is the Louvre and other sights "across the way'. It was under Euros 200...but ask for a room on the front. The rooms at the back had been renovated and were much newer...but perhaps they ALL are now..3 years later. Our front room was lovely however and quite nice and the view was worth it.

A view of the Seine and Notre Dame from the front rooms at Les Rives de Notre Dame: http://www.parisby.com/rivesdenotredame/index.html
Less expensive, a view of the Seine and the Louvre from the front rooms at Hotel Quai Voltaire;

Lesm - I believe the Jr. Suites at The Brighton are around 255 Euros - spacious and renovated with the views that Mari5 mentioned. I have stayed there 3 times and next year will be my 4th. The view is outstanding.

The Hilton Paris is one block from Tour Eiffel and the king delux rooms have a view and balcony. As these rooms also face a sports facility (soccer field, etc) the view is wide open overlooking the Siene (albiet through trees). Lots of sky, views of the 16th arr, Trocedero. Rooms on the executive floor also face Tour Eiffel but not the Seine. Depending on your dates and certain special rates on hilton.com, you can sometime reserve these rooms for as low as E230. I love this hotel and always stay here. Large rooms, comfortable beds, great service, efficient and friendly staff.
