Paris restaurants with views
 

Last question before I leave. Are there other great restaurants in Paris with views you'd recommend; saw the menu for Ciel de Paris and looked at web page for Les Ombres and La Tour D'Argent-the last two of which were only presented in French (which I know I'll have to deal with in 2 days). But wondered if there are others less touristy and warmer feeling. Appreciate any feedback, thanks.

One of our favorites is Chez Francis opposite Pont d'Alma metro station. Moderately priced menu. Gorgeous fin de siecle room and another more modern with views of the Tour Eiffel across the river. Terrace is also magnificent any time for a beverage, ice cream, dessert, coffee.

You can go to the bar at Ciel de Paris just for drinks. Better, though, is to take the elevator to the top then climb the stairs to the enormous rooftop.

PS At Chez Francis, when ordering beef, stick to the filet or tournedos (as this is one of those places where the other cuts tend to be very "chewy"). Highly recommend the seafood platter. And, ask for a table with a view when you reserve.

Another good spot is Au Bon Accueil in the 7th. No view from the dining room, but in the nice weather there's a straight on, up close, view of most of the Tour Eiffel over the tree tops. Excellent food. Reservations essential. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks for these replies. I did look at p. well's menu translator but felt carry this around might be a bit bulky and maybe embarrassing ,lol. I have the Langenscheidt plastic pocket French phrase book which has a section devoted to menus plus an 1800 word dictionary. That should at least let us identify meats, seafoods, etc.

for views check out the restaurant on top of the Monde Arabe museum/centre - i did not eat there just saw it and the patio that overlooks Paris from about 12 floors up and heard that the restaurant and tea shop got good reviews - the views i know are appetizing
