Paris: Restaurants near Palais Garnier
 

We are trying to find restaurants walking distance from the Garnier, not more than ten blocks away. Any price range, but looking for bistros and brasseries. If anyone has a favorite place nearby would be wonderful to hear about it. Have looked on various sites such as bestrestaurantsparis and Zagats, but there may be some worthwhile places not included, and also as so many are listed, wondering which ones some of you have tried and enjoyed. We are especially interested in places that may be open late, for after-show dinner.

Am posting a separate question about New Years Eve and Xmas Eve.

I's suggest Cafe de la Paix which is right across the street from the Opera. It's a beautiful beaux arts cafe with very, very good food and is open late. Pricey but not over the top and they do offer prix fixe options.

WE loved our late supper at the Grand Cafe just about a block to the east of Garnier.
We dined on steak frites and steak tartare with frites. Lee had a great creme brulee. Many around us were doing huge platters of shellfish. Full menu from simple to grand. Beautiful interior, and really nice service.

Actually I see that someone in another post also mentioned Le Grand Cafe to us, so definitely going on our list along with Cafe de la Paix. Thank you again!

Note that Cafe de la Paix is not really a "cafe", but more a gorgeous ("like sitting in a Renoir painting"), somewhat formal, restaurant and is quite pricey (but worth it - magnificent food and service), along with cafe tables on the sidewalk with a (limited) cafe menu (beverages, ice cream concoctions, etc.). You can find their hours at the Intercontinental Grand website, though in our experience they close up the outdoor cafe earlier that those hours. Highly recommend if you can reserve after your show. One of the very most romantic places in Paris and second in decor (among all the places we've visited) only to Le Train Bleu. Note that you can also just visit the bar here (and enjoy oysters, etc., and drinks, pricey, along with the stunning decor) without splurging for a meal).

Grand Cafe is another excellent choice. But, also a rather formal restaurant. Huge menu, mostly seafood. Not as pricey, and "bargain" prix fixe options (should they appeal to you).
