Paris Restaurants in the 8th?
Hi everybody. I haven't been around in quite a while due to my computer dying, and it's taking forever to get it fixed. Long story which I won't bore you with! I can only access the computer during my lunch hour at work, so I haven't had time to finish my Italy trip report from Feb, but I'm going to Paris in a month, staying at the Hilton Arc deTriomphe (the only way I can afford to go is with a free room!) and would like restaurant suggestions in that area. I did a quick search but didn't see much. Nothing fancy, I'm on a budget. I'd like casual places with good food where I can get dinner with a couple glasses of wine for under 35€. Any ideas? Thanks!

Well, since you're in the Champs Elysées area, three reliable chains there are:
Chez Clément, Léon de Bruxelles and Bistro Romain (2 different locations) |
actually, that hotel isn't really on the Champs-Elysees nor would that probably be the closest place to go to eat. It is on rue de Courcelles, a bit south of Parc Monceau. I just don't know that neighborhood for eating. I think it's near rue de Lisbonne.

Hi Susan!
I have been wondering what happened to you. Glad you are okay. I was just thinking about your Italy trip report the other day. Have a wonderful time in Paris! Johanna |
Yes, it is just south of Parc Monceau. I did wonder about the quantity of restaurants in that area, but as I say, the hotel is free...

gracie, I'll try to finish that Italy trip report as soon as I get my computer back. Hope that is going to be soon!

Some years ago I had a terrific not-too-pricey meal at Bistro de l'Oivier. I hope the food and service hasn't changed. It had a provencal twist

Susan, I forgot to tell you that I thought of you the other day. Do you ever watch Lidia Bastianich's cooking show "Lidia's Italy"? Love her! Anyway, she made a Limoncello Tiramisu. Instead of coffee and chocolate, it had a mascarpone filling flavored with limoncello. I thought you would love that!
Sorry to hijack the thread! Johanna |
zeppole, that looks good. kerouac, I'll check yours out, too. Thanks for the ideas.
gracie, yes, I do watch that show and saw that tiramisu. It's on my list to try! I have the cookbook from the series, and everything I've tried has been delicious. |
A very close French friend recommended a crepe and galette place right near there. Can't imagine that it's too pricey. Not sure that's what you are looking for but it's called Le Chalet du 8eme on 8 Rue du Commandant Riviere.

Thanks, HunyBadger, that's very close so I'll take a look.
