Weekender...quite jealous! Am holding my breath for August...there is talk of a dreaded mtg during the visit to Asheville! I love that 'hood , many fond memories and we do enjoy les editteurs!,

Had dinner at Reed tonite and highly recommend it. Small, intimate and just great food and Catherine is so nice and hospitable. Booked a cooking class with her on Tuesday.....teaching us how to make profiteroles for dessert!!

We were at Reed too! Felt as if we were dining in a friend's home. Just lovely. The osso bucco was so tender and had so much flavor. Pea and mint soup also delicious. We hope to return before week's end. Dinner for two with bottle

Amorino gelato is at least as good as Berthillon, not as expensive, and it has multiple locations. The one near us on three of our Paris trips was at the corner of R. Vieille de Temple and R. Ste Croix Bretonnerie, a few meters south of R, des Rosiers (in the 4th). ...but, truth be told, I wouldn't turn town a cup from either. :-) ...if you're going to Ile St Louis, try both...they're only a block away from each other. My vote goes to Amorino over Berthillon.
Love"Le Train Bleu"----watch the movie "Point of no Return" with Bridget Fonda to see it. I had a great birthday dinner there. MDH stopped there a day ahead of time and arranged for a special birthday chocolate torte which was excellent. "Relais L'Entrecote" (mentioned above) is a fun place. We always call it "One Dish" because the first time we wandered in we asked for a menu and the server said-----ONE DISH in English. That one dish has been served for 150 years and there is always a line to get in. Steak with a peppercorn sauce, fries, and salad with a light dressing, plus several desserts. All they ask is how you want the steak done and yes, they do come around with more several times. Our family goes to Allard in the sixth on our first night in Paris. It is a classic French bistro. The portions are large. My husband loves the frisee salad, and we all love the coq au vin, which is served on Saturday.
Another good choice is L"Ambassade d"Auvergne. We celebrated my four year old grandson's birthday there last June, and it was delightful. Happy eating. I'll be interested in hearing where you go. |
