Paris restaurant picks and suggestions
 

Heading back to Paris in May and am thinking about booking the following restaurants:
Weds - Allard
Thurs - Le Truffiere
Fri - ???
Sat. - Le Grand Cascade
Sun. - Le Coupe Chou
Mon. - Aux Lyonnais

We're staying in the 6th. at the D'Aubusson again and
would love suggestions for our Friday dinner, which is sandwiched between our two "splurge" evenings.

Would also welcome comments on these selections. Have been to Allard and Le Grand Cascade before, but not the others on the list.

For Friday you might like Au Petit Marguery, in the 13th. It's a lovely, old-fashioned bistro where everyone always seems to be having a good time.

There's just a prix-fix menu for around 38 Euros, with quite a few chices for each course. Our very favorite carries a small surcharge: fresh wood mushrooms sautéed in butter and live oil with just a hint of garlic and parsley. Yum!

Soufflées are one of the dessert options. Service is excellent--most of the waiters have worked at the restaurant for a long time, and some were originally co-owners.

If you are willing to travel a bit outside the 6th, I very much liked Le Pamphlet in the Marais--yummy Basque food, friendly, casual, cozy, a good deal at about 32 euros for three excellent courses plus extras. Notable parts of my meal there included the little plate of cured sausage they brought us to start, the lentil soup tasting, my wonderful appetizer of scallops with chorizo and braised endive, the root vegetable of some delicious sort served with my sea bass, and the molten chocolate cake that I ordered more or less accidentally when called upon to order dessert before I had focused on translating any portion of the dessert menu. I liked the place a lot.

I had a lot of luck with this website's recommendations. It seems they only recommend the tried and true, and a lot of them were full of local Parisians.

Recently stayed at the Aubusson and dined at Le Timbre at 3 rue St. Beuve in the 6th. Very small, zero decor (low lighting) but excellent food for 30 euros on prix fix three course menu. The chef is British! Could not resist the plate of U.K. cheeses and they were some of the best we've ever had in France.

La Truffiere - I notice from their website that they are asking patrons to give them notice ahead of time if they want the degustation menu. If this is within your budget I would totally recommend the degustation menu with the wine option. There are two choices for each part of the meal and they allow two diners to choose differently (which means accompanied with different wines. If you and your partner practise "tradsies" this is fabulous.

Thanks everyone, for considerate posts. Au Petit Marguery sounds like just the kind of dinner we want, but Le Pamphlet is also a top consideration because we love hanging out in the Marais.
And Jody, thanks for posting Chez Fernand - we ate there our last trip and had a fabulous meal but I just couldn't remember the name.
I'll definitely have the conciege let Le Truffiere know in advance that we'll want the tasting menu too.

Now I have so many options I may have to extend my stay!
