Paris restaurant for New Year's Eve

Hi,
My family and I will be in Paris Dec 26-January 1. I'd like to make reservations for a late dinner on New Year's Eve where we would have fun and perhaps be able to view the fireworks. I've heard that being near the Champs Elysees is the place to be, but I'd like to plan something inside because of the weather (we're from Texas for goodness sakes!)

It will be my husband and me, plus 3 college-kids (ages 19-22). So, I'd like it to be fun and casual. I'M LOOKING FOR LIFETIME MEMORIES...but at an affordable price. (Someone mentioned on this website that Le Ciel de Paris (The Ceiling of Paris) is nice for New Year's, with a great view of the fireworks. I e-mailed for reservations and they responded that the New Year's Eve price is 285 euros per person. I can't do that.)

I was also wondering about a dinner/cruise on the river, but I'm guessing that would be cold.

Any advice is welcomed!!

Cristal at Baccarat would be very special but you'd never get by for under 100 euros per person. Fermette Marbeuf would be less and it's close to the Chammps. Can't comment on some of the others. Some places in Paris are open all day, every day so that you could do fireworks and then have a late, late dinner after. For that I'd suggest Pied de Cochon in the Les Halles area. The decor is interesting/attractive and the food could be very memorable. Have a plateau des fruits de mer with multiple levels of shellfish. Then have their signature dish of pigs ear, snout, tail, etc. If you like that sort of stuff, it's pretty good. And the kids would talk about it forever. If you don't, there is always the famous onion soup and plenty of other more "normal" things on the menu. The area should be very festive for NYE. Try to be seated on the first floor near the windows so you can see the revelers outside.

Many thanks for these suggestions! I'd welcome any others.
