Paris restaurant for 12 people.
 

Does anyone have any suggestions for Paris restaurants that accomodate a party of 12?

We're meeting two other families there, and would like to have a couple of meals together. All my Paris restaurant experiences have been in smaller places...usually with tables for 2, 4, or 6 people.

We had a wonderful meal at Bofinger in April with 10 people. There were parties larger than ours, too.

I believe I just read her or maybe on SlowTrav.com, too, that on the restaurant's website (www.bofinger.com or maybe www.bofinger.fr) that you can print out a 20% off coupon.

You might want to look into Au Pied de Cochon also. A group of friends had a new years eve dinner here and it was very upbeat. Lots of families and larger parties.

I'm sure Le Grand Cafe could easily handle a large group, and it's delicious and beautiful...check out their website...legrandcafe.com.

I was at Bistrot de Papa (Metro: Ecole Militaire) a couple of months ago and there seemed to be an area on the side for larger parties--at that time, it seemed to be a group of coworkers. You may need a reservation for a large party, though. Prices were moderate.

I guess Melissa had a good meal at Bistro but that is one restaurant I warn about the very attitudinal service.

accomodate 10-12-14 people...

I don't know if you'd consider a private room, since there are so many of you. It might facilitate everyone being able to talk, switch seats, etc. If so, the red Michelin guide has a list of "Restaurants avec salons particuliers".

The list includes a range of prices and areas. If you prefer the open restaurant seating, you might want to try for that first and have the private room as a backup request if the place can't handle you otherwise.

You don't need a jacket and tie for Bofinger, though there were people there dressed in them, but Í wouldn't walk in with jeans or a t-shirt. A nice shirt and a pair of khakis should be fine.

I've stopped going to the Bistro de Papa. Used to eat there a lot, but in recent years the service has declined. Last time I ordered lamb with lentils, and it came with green beans. When I asked why, the waiter said "because we don't have lentils. If you don't like it, don't eat them." Haven't been back since.

Wow! That is really interesting about Bistro de Papa. I haven't had bad service there yet.....but I don't doubt it exists. Actually, this last time we were there the waitress was pretty accomodating and patient. And as we were leaving, this guy at the bar said, "You're American, aren't you? I can tell by your accent. We like Americans." I said, "Really?" and he said, "Yes, well, you know, the world is a mess, and someone has got to clean it up. So.....thank you." He was very sincere--that was quite a touching moment for me. But, I digress! I guess the message here is, Bistrot de Papa has inconsistent service.

Bofinger is wonderful. Another idea would be La Coupole owned by the same group. I think it's a bit more casual.

I finally succumbed to the lure of La Coupole last fall and was flat-out dissapointed with both the food and the service - and the price I paid for them. I found Bofinger to be a completely different experience - very good food and superb service.

Astier (in the 11th) has an upstairs seating area. It's possible they could accomodate a group of 12 upstairs. The food is wonderful and the price is right. The cheese course will astound you.

while astier is a great suggestion, i doubt if they would accept a reservation for 12 unless you were a very, very good and longtime customer.

it's simply too small and popular to risk turning away regulars for a one shot deal. i hope i'm wrong for your sake. it's really a good spot.

you might try l'oulette which is quite good and i'm sure will accomodate you.
