Paris rental
My husband and I are very interested in renting an apartment in Paris in the spring of 2007. We want to be in the Invalides/Eiffel tower area. There are so many rental sites on line that I'm overwhelmed. Any advice?
|
VRBO has the biggest selection.
ParisPerfect is good. Do a search, there is a very long thread on this , just put Paris apartments in the search box.. Good luck. |
We used Paris Perfect this past September. It was fantastic. Great location - right where you want to be. They were excellent all the way through. The apartments are not cheap but they were very clean and beautifully furnished. They have many to choose from, we used the Pinot, one bedroom, bathroom and separate loo which was great. Highly recommend them. Would definately use them next time.

sorry to hijack this thread but.... schnauzer, how did you get on with your train booking/refund? I have been researching printing my own ticket from Oz and read of your saga trying to do the same?
|
Hi Oz girl, haven't got my glasses on at the moment so watch out for typos!! I managed to get the tickets sent to my house in Oz!! Sheer luck I think. I emailed the SNCF and received two replies, the first asking me for my aussie address and saying they would send them on - which they did, with whiteed-out FRANCE and NSW Australia put in - yeah and double yeah! The other reply came a few days later saying that they couldn't do anything and I would have to buy more tickets, pick them up in Paris and try and get a refund by bringing by visa card statement with me. Bizarre. We waited a few days hoping the first reply man cam good which he did. I immediately emailed him back saying we had received them and what a generous and charming helpful person he was, I thought the grovelling was deserved! Thanks for asking, you must have a good memory. The trip was terrific by the way, did you read my report?

Paris Perfect and VRBO are both really good. Also check out homelidays.com (note the spelling -- NOT homeholidays)
They are similat ro VRBO -- you deal directly w/ individual owners. In general I find the rates lower than many other sites. There are flats all over Paris including near the Eiffel Tower |
should be " . . similar to VRBO . . "

Hi, Barbara,
We had a great experience with VacationInParis, our apt. was exactly where you want to be. It's #74 Invalides. Good luck! |
Robdaddy, We have booked #74 for next spring. Was it a good experience and is the apartment all that the ad says? A little insight would be great.

We just rented an apartment in Paris in June this year. We got a beautiful apartment in the St. Germain 6th District right next to the Latin Quarter. Absolute beautiful area. The price (according to a friend who had just previously rented) was very good and reasonable. Even a small lift. It was in Rue de Cherche Midi.
We booked through: holidays-france-rentals.com |
BarbaraR: my grandchildren and I stayed in #74 Invalides a couple of years ago and can highly recommend both the apartment and vacationinparis.com.
Your host, a genial American named Morgan, will warmly welcome you, then discreetly disappear, returning only if needed and then promptly. The scrupulously clean apartment has a unusually well equipped kitchen (gleaming copper pots!) and a big, super comfortable bed. A door closes the bedroom/full bath off from the living/kitchen area with its quality sofa bed and own half bath. No bath tub, though, just a shower, but there is a heated towel rack. You'll be given a code to enter the building, plus keys to the apartment itself. Small elevator, or you can use the wide stairs. Not much of a view as the apartment overlooks the courtyard, but the location is perfect. Midway between Ecole Militaire and Latour Mabourg Metro stops, short walk to rue Cler shops and a bit farther on, the Eiffel Tower. No noise from neighbors in the building or from the street. vacationinparis is a professionally run organization based in New Jersey, quickly responsive to phone inquiries or email. Oh, and there's a French style washer/dryer combination machine which takes forever to cycle through both wash and dry, but we just loaded it at night & went to sleep. The airconditioner is kinda strange: on wheels. My grandchildren used it in the living room, I had fine circulation just leaving my bedroom window ajar. I'm using vacationinparis again in November, a smaller apartment as I'll be traveling alone this time. You'll love Paris and #74! |
You can find dozens of reviews of Paris apartments by travelers who stayed in them on the slowtrav.comD site.
