Paris-reasonably priced hotels
We are going to paris at the third week in May. Spending 5 nights. We'd like something clean and comfortable. Can we do it for around $80 US a night? I've done Priceline and Expedia in the US and have gotten great hotels for less. Any ideas as to how to do it in Paris?

Donny, Check this out www.paris-hotels-paris.com/English/TheHotel1.htm

I've never stayed here but read an article in Sacramento Bee about the woman who runs this with her French husband (she relocated to Paris after meeting her husband there). It looks great and is under 70 euros. Rick Steves recommend the Hotel Leveque which is also in your price range but I've never managed to get a room there. It is always booked.

Good luck!

The Hotel Mugent in the 7th Arr might be of interest to you, it gets rave reviews here and is inexpensive. I've never stayed there but the 7th Arr is wonderful (we have stayed at many hotels in many areas of Paris and like the 7th Arr the best). If you do a search on Hotel Mugent you will find lots of entries. (We stayed at the Relais Bosquet, which I recommend highly, but it is a bit above your price range).

Incidentally, Margo seems to copy her info straight out of guide books as it has been noted already on this forum by other people. You'd do better to get personal reviews, from people that actually stayed in those hotels. Guide book info can be hopelessly out of date.

Donny,

I found a good site that worked well for me the last time we when to Paris. Try "www.ely1212.com". We stayed at the Des Nations in the Latin Quarter. A nice hotel at a reasonable price. Have a good trip.

Greg

Margo, how many times does Fodor's have to run you off before you get the message? Your cut and paste advertising is verboten here. Planning to send an e-mail to complain about you, AGAIN. If Fodor's can delete funny threads, they can delete self-serving promoters too.

We have stayed at Grand Hotel Jeanne d'Arc in the Marais area. The area is so quaint and the hotel adequate. Not fancy but the bathroom was clean and so was the room. The cost is around $80.00 per night. We are staying there again this May.

Last year, in May, we stayed a charming hotel in the heart of Paris-the 1st arr. by the name of Latour Mauberg. Fodoies highly recommened it, we took our chances and were VERY pleased. They even served breakfast every day, so you save there. They own Hotel Valadon. Check out there web site. They are across the street from the Metro, behind the Invaldes and down the street from Eiffel and across the bridge from Champs. We would definatley stay again.

Sorry the hotel LaTour Maubourg (correct spelling) is in the 7 arr.

www.latour-maubourg.fr

We always stay at the Hotel La Motte Picquet, address, 30 avenue de La Motte Picquet. The rooms are about 70 dollars a night and within walking distance of all the sites. If you want more information just ask, we are very cheap and always figure out ways to save money.
