Paris - Raspail Market Question

Want to visit this market. The Mairie de Paris website says it is Tues. and Fri. mornings. Ina Garten of Barefoot Contessa fame says it's Sunday morning, and that it's an organic market. Do both take place? Thanks.

Yes, as of last year regular market on Tuesday and Friday, organic market on Sunday. We did not go to the Tuesday/Friday market since there was a market closer to where we stayed but went to the Sunday organic market.

We look forward to going again this spring. ((Y))

The Raspail Market was one of the first places I went to during my visit to Paris. I photocopied the index from Garten's Barefoot In Paris cook book and tried to find all the different stores. I have pictures of the market on Webshots if you would like to wet your appetite. It’s also an easy walk from the market to the La Grande Epicerie de Paris (Bon Marche food market).

the Sunday market actually stopped me on my way to the Musee d'Orsay.
I was not aware of it until I stumbled into it. That is why I tell people to give Paris time to unfold. There is always something going on out of the ordinary that is unexpected.

I got the the museum ok, but something else of lesser interest fell off the chart.

Geez, there is so much to see in that city. After 4 trips I still have entries on my card not yet crossed off, and I have added a few more. All I need now is a slight push and I jump in again.

For us the organic market on the Blvd Raspail Sunday morning is traditional. If we are going to be in Paris beyond that Sunday we stock up on things to have for dinner. The past few visits we have had to leave Paris on Sunday afternoon so we get stuff for a picnic at the airport. On the end of the market closest to Hotel Lucetia is a vendor who makes great potato & cheese pancakes on a griddle. Don't miss them.
