Paris Question
 

My wife and I will be visting Paris for 3 or 4 days next April to run the Paris marathon, and are looking for some advice on a hotel & where to stay.

After reviewing the posts it seems like the "Quarter Latin" or "Saint Germain" Districts would be a good bet.

Does anybody have any good recomends for a nice hotel or B & B preferably not more than 100 euro?

I usually stay in the 8th (Madeline District) so my recommendations most likely wouldn't appeal to you.

Honestly you will most likely need to increase your budget if you want to stay in St. Germain as it is a bit more expensive to stay there than in the Latin Quarter.

I have not stayed here, but it gets great reviews on Tripadvisor and also here on Fodors. The rates are just under euro 100, too.

Thanks for the comments. I agree the bedrooms look pretty small but that doesn't really bother me. How is the weather in October?

October weather can be lovely. The month is also high season in Paris because of the many fashion and other shows; so get your hotel booked early.

We returned from Paris two weeks ago and stayed at Hotel College de France (http://www.hotel-collegedefrance.com/accueil-us.html).

We paid 97euros per night. I'd stay there again and would recommend this hotel for anyone with on a budget looking for clean accomodations. I posted a review on TripAdvisor.com. It would be the one from a member in Orange County, CA.

I will ONLY stay in Saint Germain when I visit Paris. One of my favorite streets in this section is Rue Jacob. You will find many lovely hotels on this street but for a little more than 100 euro. Good luck in the marathon!

I have stayed at the Hotel College de France twice in the Latin Quarter and think it is an excellent choice for a central, clean hotel at a reasonable price. I find there are plenty of good restaurants in the Latin Quarter that will not break the bank. The hotel is close to transit and walking distance to many sites. Saint Germain will definately cost you more.

The Hotel Monge is nice - I haven't stayed there in about a year and a half, but I assume nothing has changed.

I wouldn't recommend Minerve, although I know it and Familia, its sister hotel, get raves on this forum.

I've used the Venere website to make bookings, and it works.

Underhill is absolutely right about booking early for October. I once tried to book in early August for early October and ran smack into the Paris Auto Show. It took 10+ tries to find a hotel!

Hotel le Clement...6,rue Clement... 6th district...one block south of Blvd.St.Germain...cross street rue de Seine. Located on a quiet square across the street from the Marche St.Germain. Happy Travels!
