Paris plus one other city?!?!
I will be visiting my daughter in Paris (she is on study abroad) the last week in June. I have time enough to add one other destination using an open jaws ticket.
I will be short on time, will only have 3-4 days for city #2. Amsterdam and London are tempting becuase of their proximity to Paris. I'd like to go to Barcelona or Lisbon the most but am concerned about the travel time involved. I have not been to Prague or Florence, should I consider them I have been to all these cities (eons ago.) I like big cities and art museums. I like to walk til I drop. I am feeling soooooo indecisive. Any comments welcome. Plan B would be to stay in Paris for 10-11 days and not visit any other city. |
sorry, I made a typo when I was cutting and pasting. To clarify: I have not been to Prague or Florence but I have been to Paris, London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Lisbon.

Since you're talking about getting an open jaw flight and you can always fly between two cities as well, I sure wouldn't worry too much about how close the second city is. In a couple of hours you can fly to almost anywhere you choose.
Of those you mention my personal choice would be Prague, but since your first choices are Barcelona or Lisbon, I say go for either one. Great choices in either case. I know EasyJet flys from Paris Orly to Barcelona. I checked June and see a range of prices from about 20 euro to 39 euro. The flight is well under two hours! |
I would take an overnight train booked in a private compartment to Venice and fly home from there.
|
I'd jump at the chance to go somewhere I've never been.
|
I would pick London as a big city with art museums (new ones since you've been there) or Florence, not such a big one, but with very good art museums. London is easy to get to from Paris. If you pick Florence, it takes about 10 hours on the train so you might consider flying.

i second Robespierre. go some place you haven't been to yet...so i'd say prague or florence.

To add another possibility, you could fly or train to Nice, which has excellent museums, ( Chagall and Beaux Arts to name two, as well as the Picasso Museum in nearby Antibes)a LONG promenade along the Mediterranean, good food, wonderful people-watching and SUN.
EASYJET flies between Paris and Nice, and the flight time is about an hour and a half. |
From Paris, many places are accessible by train or plane. EasyJet offers extremely cheap flights from Paris to: London Stanstead, London Luton, Barcelona, Nice, Toulouse, Berlin, and Milan. You can also take a train to London on the Eurostar for 70EUR round trip (with a Saturday night stay over-> leisure fare). Going places by train in France is farely easy. You zip down to the south of France in less than four hours, or go up north to Brussels in an hour.
