Paris Piano Bar favorites
 

Does anyone have a favorite piano bar in Paris? I have searched the threads here but minimal mention of piano bars that I could find and jazz club info hasn't been updated in a while. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Sharon,<BR><BR>My wife and I have been going to the same piano bar for the last ten years or so. It is called &quot;Aux trios Mailletz&quot;, old French for three hammers. The story goes that after the laborors finished their days work during the construction of Notre Dame, they would come here to drink and relax from there days work. <BR><BR>Here is a little note that I wrote a friend who was about to visit Paris for the his first time since the 70's, he wanted some suggestions and was staying close by at the Hotel Colbert. The note was a follows:<BR><BR>We visited our favorite Piano bar &quot;Aux Trois Mailletz&quot;, just around the corner from &quot;Shakespeare and Company&quot;. Henriette our favorite pianist was there and wonderful as usual. There were also many of the regulars whom we’ve seen there over the last 10 years: the same flower lady, the elderly lady in the fur coat with the squinty eye who comes in almost every night. She always had her little dog with her, but we think he’s now in doggy heaven. Although I am not the original poster, I wanted to thank you for this great suggestion. This was exactly what I wanted to know also. I assume this is in the 5th Arron?

Arron,<BR><BR>It's in the 5th across from Saint Julien le Pauvre and up the street from the Hotel Esmeralda, in fact the elderly lady with the squinty eye is the owner of the Esmeralda, I had a chance to talk with her several times when were were there in December.<BR><BR>Have a great time,<BR><BR>RJs

The bar at Hotel Meurice usually features a great jazz pianist (I forgot his name), often with a bass player, just outside the entry to the bar. You sit maybe 15 t0 20 feet away. Pricey but wonderful!

Yes, I love the Trois Mailletz... it is WONDERFUL! There is also a smaller, more intimate one we frequent on the Ile St Louis, of course, the name escapes me now... down from the La Chaumiere on the same side of the street.
