aiken_parker,
Yes, the Pouilly is a new one..very recently completed. It is a modern decor rather than the usual. It has 2 full baths which is both unusual and very convenient for an apt. of this size. Paris Perfect stands on its own merits and fine reputation. They do not need me to expand on that. Yes, re The Lycée Italian Léonard-de-Vinci. They are neighbors. You will also find the Jules Lavirotte @ 3 Rapp Sq. and 29 ave. Rapp very nearby. They too attract a lot of interest. Your friends will find this an intersting and pleasant area to be in. Many shops of all kinds to investigate with great restaurants for all. Rue Cler with its attractions. Buses right there to any other distant area. The Champ de Mars park at foot of the Eiffel Tower, Seine and across it to the high fashion areas. They should enjoy it all. I have used this airport service for several years:http://www.shuttle-inter.com/ [email protected] is how I make all my reservations. I have always had excellent service. Some have reported not having such good service..so one does hesitate in recommending any service. GraceCO is using them this morning with her arrival. It is a private service with driver at security exit door with your name on a sign. I'm sure Grace and daughter will have a great time while in Paris before heading down to Aix for the daughter to get settled in with her local family for the fall school term. Grace will return later during my 6 week stay, when we will meet one another after having become good friends while planning this current trip. They have some nice reservations made and things in mind to do along with enjoying where they will be staying, with the magnificent Eiffel Tower views that always creat the oohs and aahs! She will share her trip experiences upon return. Do enjoy your planning help for your friends.. Joan |
Hello Joan,
My friend and i had coffee this AM and she was delighted for this thread. Your kind and generous response had us both smiling and she is feeling very optimistic about making a change and experiencing Paris via a PP apt.. Ironically, she had first inquired about the Kir Apt as it was a first choice.. but was advised by Michelle,it was unfortunately Not available for the straddle of a first and second week in Sept. She was alternately offered the new Poully apt. Perhaps, in the future she will have the opportunity to experience it, or one as quaint as she had hoped for a balcony/terrace to relax enjoy coffee and croissant and view the flavor of the neighborhood. Also, she is traveling with an associate who has yet to have the experience of traveling to Paris, so she hopes it to be indeed Paris Perfect :) We've checked the rates at the shuttle service and she will be getting a Metro Card as well, (something she has never done before)so thank you for reassuring her on the metro et al. How truly wonderful you have become friends with Grace and her daughter and will share time together. Sounds like it will make her trip extra fun and memorable to meet up with you! Cheers to you and Thanks Again!! |
PS. First and 2nd choice were the Kir and Chablis..but not to be.
|
aiken_parker,
I'm glad you found the information helpful, When is your friend going? I do know that everything has been quite full and on into November. Not just PP, but all the hotels and apts. who have regular clientele. Your friend is familiar with the Navigo Decouverte, pictures, days of week to buy and for what periods etc? They are so convenient for bus and metro use. Be sure she knows if she is planning to use the Inter Shuttle that it is cash! I have stayed in the Kir and it is great for one person...up high over the rooftops..a cozy nest..bright and cheerful! I have yet to see the Chablis..I will this fall..It has such great ET views and hard to believe a bathroom with separte tub and walk-in shower, for a studio! The Pouilly is not Madelyn's decorating, obviously. Will see how many like the 'modern' decorating. It does have 2 full baths, which will be welcomed by all! Yes, Grace will be joining in meeting some other nice travel friends who will be around in early Dec. along with some very nice Parisian friends. We other have other things planned. People with the same interests, likes etc. just seem to find one another. If I can answer anything else, please let me know.. Joan |
I'll chime in, having stayed in PP's Pauillac apartment which is also located on rue Sedillot, across from the Italian lycee. IMO, this is a wonderful location: on a quiet street, yet just steps to all the conveniences of rue St. Dominique, Ave Rapp, etc. without the noise. Easy to stroll to/from dinner, easy food shopping at the G-20 and numerous boulangeries, fromageries, easy access to buses. I'm sure your friends will have a wonderful stay there. EJ ((#))

Thank You Joan and EJ..
I called her and read your emails prior to forwarding them !! :) My friend arrives on the morning of Sept 3rd eta approx 8:30AM and and actually is hoping PP will be so kind as to accommodate permitting possible earlier access to the apt (rather than carting luggage until 3:30PM after a 7hr flight not to mention getting to the airport as I am sure you can appreciate). I've passed on the info about Navigo Decouverte Thanks so Very much encore :) No, actually they weren't familiar with this specifically so i went online and found the following link; http://parisbytrain.com/paris-train-...go-decouverte/ Seems, arriving on a Thursday there are some alternate suggestions they may wish to consider since they arrive late week. They will only be in Paris for 6 nights and then will be training out to Quimper, approx mid-day the following Wed, to embrace the remainnder of their trip. I know they are looking forward to seeing the country-side by train. (On side bar the flights from Brittany I'm told are limited to two international daily departures, calling for very, very early flight on date of departure). EJ, She is asking What is the G-20?? and about rue St. Dominique, Ave Rapp, etc. She laughed and said, for all my time in France and Paris, I have Never in all my years been a tourist before! But this is very exciting!! They are delighted for your birds eye view and wonderful opinion and positive review on rue Sedillot and the neighborhood! TY She's truly amazed by the warm welcome here, and said, Goodness, I should invite them both to come by for a drink if they happen to be in the neighborhood! BTW..I must say you have truly inspired and opened the door to a new view of this wonderful city! |
aiken_parker,
She can have her driver take her by the PP office and leave her luggage if her apt. is not ready, which it most probaly will not be this time of of year.If someone is departing and it has to be cleaned etc. The office is only a few doors from Cafe Constant..go there for some breakfast..croissaant, cafe creme...she can also take care of her Navigo Decouverte while waiting..that is what GraceCo is doing today. I went to Ecole Militaire about 11:30 and a nice person was there and put mine all together. The picture machine was working and did them there, too. If she can take them with her, even better. She can load it for the following week on Thursday. If she does not have one, the l'Indespensable Le petit Parisien..3 plans par arrondissement is excellent..small and has 3 pages for each arr.map, bus and metro..very handy. Most all the tabacs have them..easy to spot as they are dark blue with red and white. I have some friend arriving about the same time and will be staying in the Cotes du Rhone. Does she need any help with restaurants? I know them all, I think. Tob begin with are the 4 Christian Constant's..Cafe Constant and Les Cocottes..no reservations and must be there by 12:30 for lunch and 7:30 for dinner to get a table...very reasonable and excellent food. Violon d'Ingres is their premier restauanat..reservations a must and Fables de la Fontaine is excellent seafood and reservations also a must do. If she wants those, I can give you Catherine Constant's email address, tell her I gave it to you and you want to make reservations. I can give you many, many more, but these for starters that you cannot do better. Joan |
How terrific is this~! I must tell you a group of us including my friend and her associate, who will be making the trip, had a dinner engagement this eve. I must say, everyone at the table was in awe, upon my explaining about having discovered this forum on Fodor's,and how utterly serendipitous. Meanwhile, she is printing this all out so she has it at the ready!
Ahh, Now she understands your reference to "Pictures" previously mentioned. Was a bit puzzled at first. On Sunday will be reading through all you have shared here. Were just earlier discussing Maps! "l'Indespensable Le petit Parisien" is a Definite Must, TY, no doubt will be a first purchase from the airport! When you mentioned the colors, immediately knew what you were referring to, having seen it on stands. Excellent suggestion regarding the interim period prior to taking up residency, or in any event to get acclimated and relax. Not sure but It actually sounds as if the apt they've reserved/rented hasn't been occupied as of yet, being new, as they'd mentioned evidently unpacking it and the pictures not doing it justice. My friend(s) are looking forward to this experience over-all and building a relationship with the PP agency for their future itinerary. From all business to accidental tourist..a good thing :) Will certainly appreciate having Catherine Constant's email address and your referral.Sounds Devine, TY! Will be running down the list of restaurants you have proposed and all. And I will myself no doubt be googling them away to the best of my ability. Exquisite food and "fresh" is forever a topic of conversation around here! I Myself can smell the essence of warm croissants wafting and sadly I am not even making this trip! :( I just know your reply will precipitate more questions .. Do you prepare meals?? Where to shop.. still am curious to know EJ's reference to "G-20"..boulangeries, fromageries. We read of an Open Market for fresh produce on Saturdays(I believe it is)? Did you know "PP" evidently offers a cooking demonstration class?? Actually sounds fun! My friend albeit, will be working in great part, is determined to enjoy this departure from routine. Cotes du Rhone, ah in the 8eme!? Well, this is certainly as well a further great endorsement of "PP"(and their 50, or so apts pose seemingly a small world and evident sense of community). I'm sure this will as well serve to benefit others. You're Most Kind. Merci Beaucoup Encore!! bientot |
EJ..and Joan, Ah Ha~!GROCERY STORES: The closest is G20 on rue St. Dominique
Got it..Now we're cookin ;) |
aiken_parker
Sounds like you are having a great time putting all this together. The Cots du Rhone apt. is very near your apt. It is on the corner of Monttessuy and Bourdonnais. Directly across the street from the Royal Apas. of Monacos' Princess Caroline. All her apt. balconies have the Royal Crest on them. Can't miss it. I stayed in it last Dec. Most of the PP apts. are in this part of the 7th. It is their favorite part of Paris. Here is the website for all of the Christian Constant restaurants:http://tinyurl.com/l4l3n3 Here is Catherine's email address:[email protected] Do you like foie gras? How could you not like foie gras..the one on Bourdonnais is the one I am referring to..very near to you: http://tinyurl.com/menkws Their grande Salade..something like that..is marvelous..nice, nice people. Also, do see if you can get a reservation at Le Florimond..it is on Lamotte Picquet..near rue Cler. Yes, do go to the Sat. market across the Seine on President Wilson..you will enjoy. Take Pont Alma..same pont for all the high fashion shops along ave. Montaigne area. Many of these places are in the literature that you have received from PP. Read what they sent. It is most helpful. Sunday on rue Cler, Davoli has wonderful hot items..this is a very famous deli that has been there forever. Not like any deli you have been to.You can google it. Menus are online. Must get there early and can place order to pick up about 10:30. They close about 1 on Sundays. You are so near the Champs du MArs Parc for strolling at the foot of the ET, walks along the Seine and just strolling the streets in the area, checking out all the nooks and crannies. Enjoy... Joan |
aiken_parker,
You might get something out of this thread: http://tinyurl.com/kvqjvc I do this for all trips..did a good one for a short 12 day trip last Dec., if you want more.. Joan |
aiken_parker,
Yes, the G-20 is a supermarket with a good selection at reasonable prices (wines, too). If cooking is part of your friend's plans, the butcher shop across from the G-20, Les Viandes du Champs de Mars is excellent and sells cooked foods (chicken, pate, prepared side dishes), as well as meat. There are numerous boulangeries on St. Dominique and all are better than any bakery that I've found in the states, so you take your pick. For dessert or a snack, the small shop at #120, Gregory Renard, has delectable macarons and chocolates. As Joan mentioned, the booklet of info. from PP is filled with all this information, and their recommendations are really quite good. If I can answer any other questions, just let me know. EJ |
Bookmarking for all this great information - for when I have an apt. in the 7th!

Hello,
I just joined the Fodor forums and enjoy reading about interesting places that I have already visited or would like to vist. I stated my negative experiences with Paris Perfect and am deemed by Grace Joan 3 as not having "alot of credibility for Fodorites" because I have only posted twice. I just joined, for goodness sakes! Am I supposed to post endlessly in order to gain credibility, 100 posts or something silly like that? I didn't think that Fodor's Forums works that way. This is a discussion forum, is it not? It's not worth taking seriously if one cannot add honest content to the discussion thread. And, excess sensitivity to negative experiences about Paris Perfect seems suspicious. Abby |
Joan and EJ ..I can't begin to find words to express my sentiments of appreciation. I have just this eve been on the phone with friends in LA..telling them about how incredibly wonderful you've been. Yes, 'PP' furnished a terrific welcome packet for my friends trip. It will no doubt be dog eared in the coming days.. along with Everything you have each shared. All has been put in a folio for the trip.
You have genuinely made it especially reassuring this choice is a Right one! It is so amazing how this venue brings people together. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!! Abby.. Goodness, well I am so sorry to hear of your unfortunate displeasure. Hopefully, "PP" has worked to address the specific issues you're referring to. It was in great part my suggestion to experience an alternative to the unavoidable drudgery of hotel life and restaurants regardless of world class. And I certainly hope they will find "PP" a truly 5 Star operation. I will definitely report back their experience for both Joan and EJ.. and anyone else it may potentially benefit in the future. On side note..I confess one concern that arose was the "PP" assurance of not only comfort but in particular "Quiet" in proposing this particular apt offering. Well, last eve while on my self assigned "Mission" as I call it ..I went on to Google Maps Satelite Images (a first for me - WoW!) Well,i actually viewed the "rue Sedillot" and the "PP" property where my friends are soon to be staying. I must confess that for a moment I'd paused, as while panning up to the roof tops.. much to my surprise, there on the neighboring bldg appeared some type of construction evidently underway. I thought Oh,Oh! but upon further reading, thankfully,i learned that the Google Satellite images are Not only, Not in "Real Time", but actually average a few years old! Exhale. OTOH, because of the generous responses of the dedicated members here.. expect that someone would have no doubt flagged any such construction. Well beyond this forum I googled quite extensively about PP. On a positive note have read very, very limited mention of any "blips". Seemingly any issues they've sought to expeditiously resolve.. to the complete satisfaction of the client. The internet surely doesn't leave much "wiggle out"room for faux pas in any competitive venue. And i dare say that guests such as my friend, certainly could serve to be of benefit to a company such as "PP", being they are a significant influential within their given industry. All I know is that I am keeping fingers crossed. I as well hope GraceCo will, as well, report back her personal experiences. Goodness, I can't conceive that we are among professional bloggers(sp)posing here ( inference?). Again, this acquaintance has been truly serendipitous in my eyes. Encore, Thanks so very, very much! AP |
aiken_parker,
No need for concern about PP in any way. Flipkey/Travel Advisor, VRBO, Googe Maps all have wonderful reviews from those who stay regularly and first timers. Keep planning and enjoying your fun doing it.It is always fun to exchange helpful information. Joan |
aiken_parker,
I think your friend will be arriving a couple days before GraceCO leaves. Grace is in the Pinot now and has been upgraded for their last 3 nights to the lovely 3 bedroom Bergerac! They will be heading down to Aix on Sat. the 5th. Enjoy, Joan |
Super!!
You Are THE BEST~! and How Wonderful For GraceCO lucky lady.. Truly, If any of the trio are in the neighborhood please don't hesitate to ring!! Cheers!! |
aiken-prker,
Most don't work so you can ring from the outside..you put an access code in outside to get you to inner area where there is a buzzer.. You may run into other friends who arrive same day as you, I think, and staying in Cotes du Rhone..they will be dining at eithe Cafe Constant or Les Cocottes most evenings, arriving about 7:30..you can see if you can spot one another!! Perhaps you could ask your greeter to contact them to see if they would be interested in meeting you..that way you could see one another's apt...fun to do..have a glass of wine together. They live in MD. I will email them now about it.. Joan |
aiken-parker,
What day do you arrive? I hope you have sent in all your flight arrival information to PP. When you do that they will be able to tell you when the apt. will be ready..perhaps upon arrival.. Joan |
Joan - I'm glad this thread is continuing. I did send Catherine a request for reservations for September 11. I wanted to take my hosts to dinner that night. I think they will leave me alone in their apartment during part of my "sejour a Paris". I should be getting an answer from her soon. Ifly out on September 9 and back on September 24. I'm sorry that you won't be in Paris at the same time!!!
Aiken-Parker - rue Sedillot is indeed a quiet street. My family and I lived there for 4 years in the 80s while my younger two children were still in great school. I remember those days when G-20 was called Super Dominique and what an education the first time we went grocery shopping. One has to bag their own groceries - we didn't know!!! Your friends will have a good time in the neighborhood and plenty of restaurants to choose from. |
Lilia,
Your trip is right around the corner! We had such fun together last December in Paris. I wish you were able to join me this fall. Aiken-parker has the new Pouilly rented, as you have read. They will have a good time. The Devignes arrive next Wed. and will be in "our" Cotes du Rhone and the gal who started this thread GraceCo and I have become great friends and she and daughter are now in the Pinot and believe it or not have been upgraded to the Bergerac for last 3 nights....will be living it up!! Grace wants to come back when I am there later so she can join me at the Crillon and the Ritz for some fun! I will email you before you leave on the 9th... a bientot... Joan |
Joan, Upon flying through the night my friend arrives on the morning of Thurs Sept 3. Actually, she and her staff spoke with Michelle today. They are waiting to hear back at this moment and awaiting advisement on possible earlier entry. I'm told the staff of "PP", have honestly been a true pleasure.
Ahh, Thank you for the tip on Buzzers/door bell system! I shall pass this along in the "folio" details i've gingerly prepared. I am confident their Greeter will no doubt be happy so show them how to enter the code etc. They will as well inquire about the other members of the Fodor's family on deck ;) Have made a note regarding Cafe Constant,or Les Cocottes (7:30 PM-ish). And they have the information you'd previously so graciously provided. framboise_et_rose..Thank you for sharing this tidbit regarding your old neighborhood! How nice to know you have such an intimate familiarity.Truly. Oh my.. i will be certain to tell the duo to be prepared to "bag" their own groceries-Too funny! For the leisure time they have slated to enjoy, wouldn't wish them to spend it all standing in line awaiting their groceries being bagged! The neighborhood sounds more and more divine. Joan, do enjoy your rendezvous with GraceCO! Please thank her for initiating this wonderfully informative and friendly conversation. Cheers! AP Ps. thank you for the tinyUrl as well ;) |
aiken_parker,
I think you mentioned that your friend had often stayed in an 8th arr. hotel and usually dined in the hotel? If I knew which hotel she was used to, I might be better able to help with some local dining suggestions. I know most that are around the area, if they prefer to dine locally. Sounds good that her apartment may be ready for her when she arrives. a bientot.. Joan |
hi Joan,
sorry for the delay but am pleased to report that all is exceptionally well. They arrived were granted early access and given a detailed operational tour by a lovely greeter. The staff has been extremely pleasant and attentive of their own accord. They have already dined at Cafe Constant and were delighted with wonderful food and service at truly reasonable prices. I know this eve they were at La Fontaine de Mars adjacent to a restaurant Skitch(?) and they have shopped at the G20 and gleefully bagged their own groceries! Taken full advantage of the many boulangeries and found their way to rue claire (sp) and the open market just this AM..Gregory Renard's macarrons wwent home with them in tow. here is a a pleasant crepe shop |
PS..Finish that thought..There is a pleasant crepe shop on the block where they popped in to avoid the crowds being they were tired and the owner was/is a very nice woman and she helped them to get acclimated to the metro locations. They did pick up 3 day passes for the metro and as well the blue aand white book you'd suggested.
They adore the flavor and feel of the neighborhood and the proximity to the ET, seine et al. They find it so much nicer that staying in a hotel. Albeit, the hotel Lotti is lovely and the other i can't seem to recall from the tip of my tongue but i know it is situated near to the business centers as opposed to neighborhood in the 8eme. Pouilly has been clean, comfortable, convenient and quiet.. just as described. Amazing what can be done with minimal space. And they have provided some nice welcoming touches nespresso, wine ,biscuits. coffee, tea, milk, water and condiments. Near everything one can possibly ask for in a turnkey alternative. No doubt they will be back as they are already recommending them to colleagues! |
aiken_parker,
Glad to hear that they arrived safely and were able to get into their apartment early. Yes, the greeters are always very thorough in showing everything and being most helpful. They will be in touch with them regularly, too for any help that they may give them. Sounds like they are finding their way around. It is pleasand to walk in the Champ de Mars park near the Eiffel Tower and Ecole Militaire and along the Seine..both sides. They will have no trouble finding places to eat in all price ranges and some great boulangeries and open markets. People in the area are most friendly and helpful. Other friends have been there, in the Cotes du Rhone apartment. They will be leaving for home tomorrow. They have been sending me a 'running' trip report of their daily doings! They went to a small Italian restaurant on Monttessuy this evening..they said it was very good. They had been to Au Bon Accueil a few nights ago per my suggestion. It is also on Monttessuy..these are only a block away from where your friends are staying. They might like to try. Joan |

I don't know Paris Perfect. I'm using another company which is smaller and younger and it is known for the very good service. With me they have been impeccable all the times.
If you want a good view and a good neighbour you should choose Montmartre. They have a great apartment called Million Dollar Views and I would really suggest you to give a look to it, here is the link http://www.paris-apartment-rent.com/.../abbesses.html |
