Paris Perfect: change of apartment
We had booked Paris Perfect Muscadet in the First for mid September, I got this email today, saying, basically, take it or leave it, we are offering you the Pomerol apartment because your original apartment/building will be undergoing noisy improvements.
The daily rate of the original apartment was E325. The daily rate of the new apartment is E451, Duh,,, There are 3 of us traveling; the new apartment has 1.5 baths as compared with only one. Definite plus. The new apartment is in the 7th. The original was in the First Rue du Cygne. I have asked for the street address of the new apartment. Basically they told me take the upgrade of get a refund. After discussing with our travel companions: NO BRAINER< took the new apartment. Any comments? What about this addresss? I loved the central location of the original apartment. We want all of our guests to have an enjoyable vacation in Paris with no surprises. We have just learned of some unexpected building works that will be performed in the apartment and building during your stay. They are already busy and the works are extremely noisy; we certainly don’t want to ruin your stay! I have upgraded you to our Pomerol apartment at no extra cost. Please let us know if this is satisfactory to you. If not, we will be happy to refund your payment immediately – but we hope you will be pleased. You can click on the link below to see details of your upgraded booking: https://bookings.parisperfect.us/boo...w/POME091913UR Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions or if we can help in any way. |
Seems a no brainer to me unless it is in Provence!! No extra cost!! ;o)

I think they did a good thing. Offered an upgrade for no charge and moved you out of an apt that could be problematic. What else would you like them to do?
I like the 7th for all its great restaurants. Buses and metro are ok to that area. Maybe a touch less central than the original apt? but really its no big deal. Can't get the link to show anything without adding reservation info. |

<<What about this addresss?>>
You haven't given it to us, but the PP apartments I know in the 7ème are all lovely and in really nice neighborhoods. |
The description says " perfect location right on the pedestrian section of the famous rue Cler market street"
I think that is a great location if you like to be in that area. I prefer the 4th. |
The following is from the Paris Perfect website regarding the apartment they have moved you to:
"Located in the Left bank in the heart of the 7th arrondissement, this holiday apartment makes the perfect central Paris accommodation. Close to the famous rue Cler market street, Seine, Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars, Ecole Militaire, Invalides and the Métro; surrounded by cafés, shops, restaurants, and open markets. One block to the Eiffel Tower and Champs du Mars." In other words, a great location (http://www.parisperfect.com/apartmen...is/pomerol.php). |
The listing says it is in the 7th near rue Cler, a mostly pedestrian market street. A good neighborhood. Lots of restaurants and other services. When you confirm, Paris Perfect will send you a document with everything in the neighborhood. You can see the top of the Eiffel Tower from one of the rooms. It is largely a residential neighborhood, but near the Eiffel Tower, Rodin Museum and Les Invalides. I think you got a good deal.

Loving my new neighborhood.

I think it looks fantastic! We are staying in a PP apartment in the 7tth December 11-18. . I think you are going to love it! I'm jealous. It looks perfect!
|
You are definitely a winner. I know the Pomerol well. You will like having the extra bath. Great location for you.
Enjoy.... |
The address is 163 Rue de Grenelle. Looks to be almost at the corner of Rue Cler and Rue de Grenelle. I am assuming the closest metro would be La Tour Moubourg, correct?
Any bakery/bistro recommendations ? The only negative I see is the apartment is approx 100sf smaller. |
Tons of bakeries & bistros in that area. Don't worry. PP will send you a list of bakeries & bistros.
We always take buses everywhere. Unlike the metro, buses are above ground and you can see things as you ride through Paris. That location is equidistant between La Tour Maubourg and Ecole Militaire metro stops. They are on the same line, anyway.

We stayed close to there on Rue Chevert last year and loved the area! We were on Rue de Grenelle almost every day picking up baguettes and pastries. Lots and lots of places in that area.
Our favorite boulangerie was right across the street from the Ecole Militaire metro stop. There is also one on Rue de Grenelle that won an award for their baguette in 2011 - I don't know the exact address but it is next to the Picard if that interests you (it was closed the day we went by, so didn't get to try anything there.) It is called Les Gourmandises d'Eiffel. There are several open-air markets in the area too, we went to the one on Wed & Sun on Boulevard de Grenelle by the Le Motte-Piquet metro station. I don't think you will be disappointed. We really loved being able to walk in the early morning and see the Eiffel Tower or the sun coming up over the Invalides. |
The 7th isn't my favourite area to stay --- for your budget of 345E I might have a look at other apartments just to satisfy yourself there isn't something in your preferred neighbourhood. PP is pretty expensive - we rented a gorgeous apartment in the 1st that was far less expensive but unfortunately I looked at its listing and it is booked.

The apt entrance is on Grenelle, just past rue Cler, but if you do Google street view and go to rue cler and then look at the bldg for the corner you will find the window from the dining room is across the corner and the bedroom is on rue Cler.
You will definitely like your location....so much around you... |
Hi! Im new at Fodors. I've been searching for feedback on Paris Perfect. It looks like you got a good deal at Pomorol. Has anyone stayed in Vougeot Apartment? PP says its along rue de montessuy. Is that a good location for sight seeing? I'm travelling with 3 teens.
Also, is PP reliable? We are leaving first week of MAy 2014 and staying for six days. Thank you for your reply. |
We haven't stayed at the Vougeot, and yes & yes to your other 2 questions. We've rented PP apts 3 times and are trying for a fourth next year.

You got the best end of the deal and a half bath will be a Godsend. Lucky you!!
