paris pass vs museum pass

Im about to pass out myself - I have read up on the musuem pass and will probably end up buying one although before I do I would like to read any opinions from people who have purchased a paris pass and how they compare to the museum pass.

thanks

They are entirely different things and the Paris Pass rarely to never works out to be worth it. It has a LONG list of stuff you can use it for but not necessarily things you really want to do.
The museum pass "may' be a good deal for you if you want to do various museums. You can also just buy entrances to those you want. You need to look at your schedule, tell us what kinds of museums you want to see.
BUT do not buy museum pass online before you arrive--it will cost MUCH more.

Another reason that the Paris Pass is not a good deal is that the Paris Visite transportation pass that comes with it is overpriced. You'll do much better either buying ten-ticket carnets or one of the other passes available.

For a list of transportation tickets and passes with links to detailed explanations of each one, go here: http://tinyurl.com/let4xg.

We bought the Museum Pass last month when we were in Paris. Our thoughts on the pros of buying it were :

1) we want to do a LOT of museum-hopping during our days there
2) it lets us bypass most of the lines
3) we can go in for an hour or so, walk out and breathe some fresh air, then go in again, etc.
4) convenience

We bought the 4 day pass and I must say that if I would figure out whether it was actually a cost-savings I might have to say we broke even or maybe saved just a tiny bit. As for lines, I don't know why but there were NO LINES at all so that was not a saving. We also found that we walked into several unplanned museums we saw along the way, (so-called minor museums) just because we COULD with the pass. We never would have otherwise, I believe.

Would I do the same again? Absolutely. Just make sure that if you buy this pass you check on which museums are closed on Mondays AND Tuesdays. Once you activate the pass you must use it for CONSECUTIVE days.

Enjoy.
