We are going in June and will defintiely get the pass. Reason is that we are traveling with a 10-year old. The fact that we can use it to go into various museums for a short period makes it attractive. Otherwise, you pay your museum admission and feel you must see EVERYTHING in that one visit. With the Pass, we can break the Louvre (and perhaps other sites) into more manageable shorter visits. Jumping to the fast-track entry is also attractive! Since we are staying in the Montmartre area, unlimited public transport benefit is equally valuable.

Whether it's "worth it" or not depends on how many museums you are planning to visit in what span of time and how much you're planning to use the métro. The availability of the guidebook of attractions in all those languages us a useless feature. I don't know about the restaurant discounts, but I'd guess they wouldn't be places I'd be dying to eat at in Paris.

Also, there are passes just for the museums that don't include the métro, so you can weigh that against the all-inclusive one. I never get a pass, but that's for personal reasons because I'm never on a quest to tick off museums because I'm in Paris so often, so you need to decide what's in YOUR best interest.

We used the Amsterdam Pass last year and clearly got our money's worth. Just the convenience of being able to jump on the public transport was great. The opportunity to go into a museum for a short visit was great, I'm not someone who wants to spend 4 hours in a museum studying every object so for me it was great that I didn't have to pass up a museum because it would be an additional 10€ and I couldn't decide if it would be "worth it" or not.

We leave for Paris in 4 weeks so I am planning to buy the Paris Pass as well for our visit.

StCirq is correct as always, I have been looking at the Museum pass as well which is a lot cheaper at 64€ for 6 days and using carnet for the metro. I'm just trying to see which would be cheaper for us in the long run.

Also a caveat, the passes are available on several sites with different prices, find and compare several sites, the savings can be significant.

For the Museum Pass try http://www.parismuseumpass.com/en/pass_tarif.php

This was cheaper by far and looks like the best deal, the ParisPass includes a boat on the Seine ride and a Wine tasting, if those are worth the added cost for you that might be a good choice for you.

Our first trip in 2006 we bought the pass as you describe. You'll find numerous posts here about the value of the and whether or not you can get a better deal differently. For the metro pass portion, you will need to use it significantly. Also, the time of week you will be there may change the value of the metro pass, as the separate passes are only available for certain times. Example: arriving on a Friday or Saturday, no pass available for use until I believe Monday, so you'd need something different for Saturday and Sunday.

As for the museum pass, I agree with SuzChicago, it was great for dropping in and out of museums. The Louvre is certainly a good example, as it vast size is better to be broken up into sections over different days. Keep in mind, the Eiffel Tower is not included.

I wouldn't buy any pass until I got there (unless these are special passes available only on the internet); it's just one more thing to carry across the pond, and you're likely paying a premium to purchase it in advance.
