Ellen:

Can only give you a heads-up about transportation. We'll be going back to Paris this summer, so for this spring we thought we'd head to the South of France. Trying to narrow down my itinerary to places in Provence and the Cote d'Azur,I was debating about train to Nice and Rex wisely (as always)advised me to check out flying. He was right--it was the best use of our time and money. I got an Air France flight (there are about four or more per day from CDG) for $124 round-trip. I purchased it online. We will be landing from US, going to another terminal, and then will be in Nice in a few hours.

As to how long you want to spend...I can't offer help. I can tell you that upon the advice of others on this board, we're staying at Le Grimaldi in Nice. This location will allow us to make daily rail trips up and down the coast to Monte Carlo, Cannes, Eze, etc. We're looking foward to numerous art museums, wonderful strolls, and good food.
