Paris or Bordeaux?

hello everyone,
can someone give me their opininon on what would be nicer this time of year: a 6-night stay in Paris or a jaunt to Bordeaux from Charles de Gaulle via the high speed train? Would love to hear your thoughts as I leave wednesday. it's my last hurrah before staring my new job.
thanks in advance!!

Bordeaux is a nice town, but 6 days (including arrival and departure?) can easily be spent in Paris.

Most would advise you to stay in Paris. Plenty to do and see plus day trip opportunities.

Hi nora,

Is it either Paris or Bordeaux, or is it a daytrip to Bordeaux from Paris?

In either case, I suggest 6 nights in Paris.

Paris is the best choice in my opinion as well . I spent a few weeks in Bordeaux on a house exchange several years ago and found it a bit on the dull side. Paris, on the other hand, is always interesting.

I can't imagine anyone choosing Bordeaux over Paris; but have fun whichever you choose. If you do choose Bordeaux take a daytrip to Sarlat, Domme, Beynac in the Dordogne.

If you're a wine geek, take the TGV or a quick flight to Bordeaux. Don't stay in Bordeaux, but in St. Emilion, Pauillac, or Martillac and visit the wine chateaux, go to the wine spa at Les Sources de Caudalie, or take a day trip to Cognac to taste at the houses there (Hennessey, Otard, etc.).

If you're not into wine, then stay in Paris. I love Bordeaux and we've been there for long weekends probably 4-5 times in the past 6-7 years, with the final night in Paris--but our visits focus mainly on touring and tasting at the various chateaux.

ok..so i've decided to stay in paris. saw some wonderful threads on things to do during that time. Very excited. do any of you have favorite hotels?

Do you have a preference as to where you w ant to stay in? Quiet area, or a busy area? Close to everything, or within reasonable metro ride? If you're leaving on Wednesday and haven't booked a room yet, you probably should start looking now.

I'm going in September, by myself, so I will be looking forward to seeing your trip report!

FWIW, I'm staying at the Hotel College de France (http://www.hotel-collegedefrance.com). Seems reasonable, has favourable reviews in general at TripAdvisor, close enough to everything, and if not, withing good walking or bus distance. But the Latin Quarter isn't everyone's cup of tea, so the more you have an idea of where you want to stay, in terms of activities around you, the easier it will be for us to help you.
