My husband and I are going to Paris the beginning of Oct. I would love to go to the Opera..does anyone have any info that I could look into or a website that I could go to to purchase tickets? Thanks, Sheila

Oh Sheila,have a wonderful time.We used a now closed agency to get our tickets,but I know whatever you see you will be thrilled.Just to be in the Opera House was enough to me,the Ballet we saw was icing on the cake!And the website is really good!

The Opera Bastille, where most of the operas are done, is a wonderful modern building with an interior that I wish could be copied at other theaters. <BR><BR>We were in Paris a few weeks ago and could not get tickets to a sold out performance over the Opera's internet site. I emailed our hotel and they got us tickets immediately. You pay a surcharge, but it was easily worth it for such a highlight. <BR><BR>I believe our tickets were about 105E each, with a surcharge of about 25E per ticket. Seats were the best I could have asked for. <BR><BR>From the website, it looks like early October is Tales of Hoffman (Bastille) or Julius Caesar (Garnier). Enjoy!<BR><BR>Lisa

The process is easy, and the seating chart quite good. Actually, the box office opens TOMORROW, July 1, for tickets for next season! I went to the Opera Bastille, and it is well worth seeing - the production was incredibly innovative, too! Enjoy!

I would definitely recommend getting tickets for performances at Opera Bastille and/or Opera Garnier in advance. We tried after we arrived and had no success, as we weren't willing to pay EXCESSIVE fees (over and above the ticket costs).

If you can't get tickets or can't convince your husband to go, you must at least go to the Opera Garnier and see inside. For a small fee, you can wander the halls, walk the grand staircase and peek inside the theater at the beautiful ceiling and famous chandelier.
