Just be thankful the English didn't win that World Cup (no offence to any of English on the forum - you know as well as I do what it could have been like).<BR><BR>There was trouble in Dublin last May Day too, but the trouble was between the police and the protesters. And that's my point. You are not likely to get into trouble if you are not involved. <BR><BR>I was actually planning to be in China for May Day this year, but had to change my plans. <BR><BR>To be honest, as a European, if I wasn't able to handle seeing protest marches, I'd have to lock myself in my house 300 days a year (its kind of a continental sport!!)

Well said Violagirl. I lived in Paris for a few years and never saw a violent demonstration, on May 1st or otherwise. <BR><BR>That's not to say they don't happen, but it's certainly not worth barracading oneself indoors. Best just to find out where the demos are and avoid the area, if feeling at all nervous!
