Paris on a Sunday
Having my 50th birthday weekend late January in Paris. Any suggestions on what to do on a Sunday? We have all day till an 11pm flight. Up for any suggestion - no matter how quirky.

I love going to Place de Vosage on a Sunday. In the square there are musicians that play classical music. It can make a bad day go good after hearing that music..........
|
Stroll the Champs, down to the Tuilleries. Be sure to make reservations for dinner somewhere, although it might have to be an early one in order to get to the airport. The Marais is in full swing.

The Marais and Place des Vosges!

Suggestions for what to do in rainy and/or cold weather would be useful. The Place des Vosges is great in good weather, but I wouldn't want to sit out there in January unless the temperature was on the mild side. So I'd think about what could be done indoors, and I'd be inclined to head for the Musée d'Orsay. Another possibility would be brunch at the Jacquemart-André museum café, if it's open on Sunday, followed by a visit to the collections there. Certainly a dinner at a special restaurant should be on the schedule.

We started our Sunday in Paris with Mass at Sacre Coeur. It's a wonderful experience even if you are not religiously inclined. The music is heavenly (no pun intended). The church choirs and organ music soar and it sets the whole day off on a good note (oops, sorry again).

Hi McG,
Sunday brunch at the Jacquemart-André museum café is an excellent idea. See http://www.musee-jacquemart-andre.co...re/home_en.htm After brunch, tour the Museum, walk down to the Arc de Triomphe and then stroll the Champs to Place Concord. |
