Paris: Now THIS is a unique souvenir!

I just received this email from the Opera de Paris site:

"L'Opéra National de Paris organise une vente de costumes issus de ses productions lyriques et chorégraphiques. 6 000 costumes, réalisés par les Ateliers de l'Opéra depuis les années 50, parmi les plus prestigieux de notre fonds : aux prix de 50 euros à 400 euros (lingerie : 20 euros).

English summary: The Paris Opera is selling off 6,000 costumes created by its own design studios, among them some of its best (most prestigious), at prices from 50 to 400 euros (lingerie 20 euros).

I'm guessing that, for the most part, these are costumes from the various choruses (vocal and dance) and minor roles rather than principal roles performed by famous singers. Still, pretty cool.

The sale will run Sat. Nov. 22 and go through the 23rd (it actually starts on the 21st, but that date is sold out, probably through advance notice to premium subscribers). You need a ticket to go to the sale (20 euros, but 15 euros of that are applied toward your purchase). You can buy a ticket online if you have a personal registration number with the Opera de Paris web site (we got ours from attending opera performances and purchasing the tickets online) or you can call 33 (0) 892 89 90 90.
One ticket per person and only one costume purchase per person (no profiteering). They are also trying to make the sale fair by not putting out all the best stuff on the first, already sold-out, day.

The sale will be held at Ateliers "Berthier" 32 Boulevard Berthier 75017
Métro : Porte de Clichy

We'll be in either the Loire Valley or Bavaria that week-end, but if we were in Paris, this would be a MUST on our calendar!

Forgot to note in the English summary that some of the costumes date back to the 1950s.
