Paris November 2010 - suggestions

OK don't beat me up for this open ended question. We will be in Paris with friends early November this year. having been there many times we've covered all the basics more than once. We plan to hit the Antique market at the Bastille as well as the Monet exhibit. Any other ideas for things to do that are either off the beaten path or special short term events? What's of interest via the metro on the permiter of the City (anything other than housing???)

I won't beat you up. You'd post that picture of me eating os a moelle.

For some interesting explorations on the perimeter of Paris, see tod's current trip report:

The annual Festival d'Automne will be going on, with theater, music, dance, and cinema. Here is their schedule:

If you are there on the 11th, go to the Armistice ceremonies at the Arc de Triomphe. You won't get close enough unless you are lucky to see the wreath laying, but there is a parade of military units, and there is nothing quite like seeing and particularly hearing horse cavalry with sabres marching down the Champs Elysee. Really quite moving.

Even if you don't go, take note that it is a holiday with holiday schedules for transportation, shops, some museums, etc.

The XMAS lights and window displays will be up at the Grands Magasins.

What sort of stuff are you interested in? Last time I went I did a walk of Jaquemart Andre, Chapelle Expiatoire, Grands Magasins, auction houses on Drouot, then walk through some of the covered passageways.

Chapelle Expiatoire is a memorial raised over the spot where the bodies of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were thown after guillotine, before being moved to St Denis. Also commemorates the Swiss Guards who died defending the monarchy.

Chateau de Vincennes is one place I am planning on going to, East end of Paris.

Have you done any Paris Walks? They give a little more flavour to the neighbourhoods they tour.
