It was sunny this morning,,not bad. I was out for breakfast by about 9:00:

I then walked down to say hello to Valdo at Cafe Max. I made a lunch reservation for tomorrow with him. Did more shopping and back to apt. before heading back out for lunch. Decided that I should take umbrella. Yes, apartments are the way to go! So much more comfortable..even if you don't do much cooking. I don't cook much at home, so not in Paris, either.

I just came across your posts. My wife and I will be first-time visitors to Paris from Dallas-area for 3 nights (Nov.12-15). We're planning on bringing only light jackets. Will that be sufficient for the cold and rain there? Also, we plan to use the Metro to get around, so are planning to purchase the multiple-ticket pass at CDG. We will be staying at a little hotel near the Eiffle Tower called the Floride Etoile. Plan to make a day at the Louve. Looks like from reading your posts that we had better plan on about 40 Euros a meal for the two of us. Any suggestions for newbies with so little time? I'm enjoying reading your posts. I would bring more than a light jacket! Wear a heavier one on the plane..can't pack it! Not sure what you mean by multiple ticket pass. A carnet of 10 tickets is good on metro/bus. Your hotel is across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower and not far from Trocadero. You can take the 82 bus to Eiffel Tower area and eat at Christian Constant restaurants,Les Cocottes and Cafe Constant for excellent food at reasonable prices. No reservations, so a must do time wise..lunch by 12:30 and dinner by 7:30. You can take the super 69 bus to take you to area of d'Orsay, Palais Royal and Louvre areas...Rivoili has all the tourist stores..can cross the Seine and be in the 6th St. Germain area with many tourist shopping etc. with many restaurants. Bring an umbrella, layered clothing. Look at the weather maps to get an idea of the temperatures..if it is windy, it feels much colder..a wool sweater is always good for underneath your jacket if needed. You will have full days and will sleep well at night!! Enjoy..you will be in Paris...this will only be getting your feet slightly wet..you will be longing for your next trip!! Enjoy....a bientot... Joan, another of your followers, reading all and enjoying the pictures very much. One of the keys to your popularity I think is that no detail is too small for you to mention. All travelers sometimes need a mundane something left at home, in your case the search for a robe was something we could all need to do.

A great looking lunch! I enjoy the menu board as i am sitting here with my french dictionary trying to decipher what i would order. Keep taking pictures of the menu board.only six more days and i will be there.

Thanks so much Joan for your sage advice. We will pack a sweater or two and some gloves and a couple of small umbrellas just in case. I can see why you have so many loyal followers, you are an impressionist! But you use words instead of paint. Your journals paint vibrant visions on virtual canvas for everyone to enjoy as if they were their own. I, too, am now an avid fan of your travelogue.

I was up and off this moring to rue du Bac to Deyrolle and various great places in the area. I stopped at Eric Kayser for a bit of breakfast..was yours like this?

I got my exercise, too. I stopped by Violon d'Ingres as I had not had a reply from Catherine and not not seen Christian..figured they were on holiday, as are many others for this holiday period. Alexandre confirmed they that were on holiday and took care of my reservation..have now just received an email from Catherine that she had just spoken with Alexandre and new I had stopped in. All is well for Sueb08 for next week. She will join me at my apartment..the Cabernet..and we will then go to Violon for dinner..Friday the 13th!! The sun is out and it is a nice day today. I had left a coat in May that I have been wearing since I arrived. I will graduate to the heavier one as time goes by!! I plan to go to Cafe Constant this evening. Yes, I will arrive early..by 7:30..to make sure of a table! a bientot... Joan |

No, my breakfast didn't look like that; I'm sitting at my desk with my cup of instant coffee and home-made whole wheat bran muffin bread. And drooling over your pictures!! Sounds like a *wonderful* trip, and you're barely started! |
