I doubt that we will have turkey..maybe a bit of festive something or other for 'our' TG. Will not mean much to Florent and Michael. Will take some pictures of them at Violon.

Yes I did see the earlier post re Marche Raspail. I have been there..a nice Sunday Marche. I have not been lately. Guess I have been going on Sat. to the President Wilson across the pont alma..it is a biggie. The Raspail one is nice because it is not so large.

I would probably say Sevres Babylone, but remember I am a western 7th arrondissement person, and probably not the best one to answer. I'm sure others who are reading this will give you their opinions.

Summagold, how do the apartments compare? Sevres Babylone is next to Bon Marche mall but I think sightseeing might be nicer near Rue Mazarine (St. Germain, the Seine).

hi! Sorry to interrupt the delicious meals and rainbows, but i have a question that I just can't seem to resolve. I'm comming to Paris on the 17th of December(my fourth time) and yet every time i mention this to anyone they start going on at great lengths about how much they dislike Paris! It only makes me love it more, but I am simply at a loss to understand.

Well, at least you won't run into them!

I don't know where you live or if your 'friends' have ever been to Paris. I have often found that the people who say they would not got to Paris, the French are rude, when asked when they were in Paris,the response is "never"!

You will find on this site that people love Paris. It is the reason that we keep returning and returning. There is no end to it. I will be her til 12/14 and I will be returning the end of Jan for a month.

As Kerouac said, "at least you won't run into them!"

I too have heard negative comments about Paris and most often, the people making the comments have never been there.

In fact, before her first Paris trip with me last fall, my sister heard the same comments (rude, etc.) and said she was sure I wouldn't have fallen in love with Paris if that were the case. Then, during our stay, she saw time and time again the kindness of the French, and now knows exactly why Paris is my favorite city in the world.

Ugggghh. Whenever I hear someone say they don't want to go to Paris because the French are rude, I roll my eyes. I have never encountered this stereotype. It probably stems from Americans who go there and immediately speak English. They may get the rudeness in return! If you are polite, always say Bonjour when entering a store and make an effort to speak a tiny bit of French, you should have a nice experience.

My husband is ready to send me to therapy because I am overly consumed with thoughts of Paris.

I was looking for the Italian restaurant on Grenelle that someone asked me about. I found two in the particular area..one was close, so I went into the other one and I had dinner. A tiny place with a giant chandelier. The owner was very friendly and we each struggled with each other's language.I kept seeing all these people sosme in and disappear down into the cellar. I finally had to ask him. It seems that they have another restaurant diagonally across the street, but the one I was in had the kitchen in the cellar!

I did take a picture of my salad and forgot to take one of the pasta. I had wine, of course, and a cappuchino. He insisted that I have an after dinner limoncello..so, I did.

I will post picture tomorrow..

Thanks for all the responses! Strangely enough, most of these people have been to Paris and they find it, wait for it, ............BORING! And yes, rude. I have only ever found the people to be unbelievably polite and helpful. Anyone here got any advice on which are the best christmas markets? I think I'll be joining you in therapy, Roberta!

Happy Thanksgiving from Sunny California where we are expecting a high of 82 degress. Come Christmas, when I will be there in Paris, this girl from California will be very cold. However, like I enjoy saying, "better chilly in Paris, than sleeveless in Los Angeles".

Well all I can say is we had a great Thanksgiving!! Michael and Florent came by my apt. and I had a nice Pessac Bordeaux for them. It was raining a bit as we walked the block to Violon. Alexandre greeted and seated us. We decided that we would prefer having a wine with each course, depending what we were eating. That worked out well. Christian came by and apologized for not recognizing our holiday. He said until I mentioned it to him yesterday he did not know..too late then. I think he is forgiven with the meal that we had!!We each shared the 3 different desserts and all had cafe creme. Florent was not sure when he would be able to eat again! They voted another winner..each restaurant they shared with me has been thoroughly enjoyed and a step up each time! I don't know how this one could be improved upon! A fun evening and a Happy Thanksgiving shared with two nice friends.
