Summagold,

Both places for a week, only? I don't have a lot of my apt. sites with me. You might check VRBO, though..and someone else might be of some help...give us the dates to work with and we will see what we can do. What do you need..studio..1 bedroom..reasonable?

summagold, here is the link to the Paris apartment thread: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ent-thread.cfm

Terrific report, as usual, Joan. Thanks!

SUMMAGOLD Nov 21st, 2009 07:23 AM

Hi, a studio will be sufficient. Just hubby and I. December 27-Jan 1. 5 nights. I guess we can stay 7 nights if we have to, but we definitely have to be checked out by Jan 1, as thats our flight departure date. we can take day trips out to Dijon and Strasbourg from Paris instead of staying the night there. Thanks sooo much for your help!

cw,

Don't know why I didn't think of the Fodor's thread....I do think between Christmas and New Year's it is filling up and prices are higher, too....

Summagold,

www.parisbestlodge,com has some nice studios and has good reviews on this board, but they are popular apartments and may be filled.

On www.parissweethome.com you can search by date. I have no experience with them, and they seem to represent individual owners.

Joan--you can't remember everything! But I'm happy you're remembering to post your lovely food photos.

SUMMAGOLD Nov 21st, 2009 08:30 AM

Hi Joan! i will look at this, looks very promising! one question, do they all require 500 euro deposit? do they put a hold on a credit card or do they require a money transfer before our arrival? this will be our first time ever renting any apt, we usually go to hotels.., so any info is very very helpful! merci beaucoup!

Joan, you're torturing me with that photo of your meal today! It looks scrumptious!

Also, you were right, those knobs are beautiful and such a good deal! I definitely am interested in them. I'll "talk" to you after you get more information.

ok i sent several emails. hopefully i can get a response soon. i think it is evening there Joan? whats for dinner? :)

SUMMAGOLD Nov 21st, 2009 08:47 AM

cw, thanks to you as well! this thread is sooo helful. i have sent like a million emails to apts. hopefully i can find something affordable.

cw Nov 21st, 2009 08:56 AM

Good luck! You may have to wait until Monday to hear about some apartments.

Both times that we've rented, the agencies have accepted the deposit through our credit card so no waiting for refunds. That was through Paris Vacation Rentals and Parisian Flat.

All I can say is Thank You!
Sure brightened up my day, looking at the food and enjoying your trip. Thought I was going to go back to Rome, now
maybe back to Paris.

They all have their own way of doing the security deposit..some just have your CC # if needed, others want a check and they return when you leave,,some want cash..all different..You have picked some difficult dates to find availability this late...something may turn up..you get a lot of helpers on the forum!!

I had a late breakfast and an early dinner with the Davoli items...

Summagold - You asked about a hotel or an apartment close to Bastille. Well, we found this darling little studio right in Bastille from another post right here on Fodors and have reserved a seven night stay in August.
It may suit your needs? The owners are really nice to deal with.

Deary me - Looks like it's booked!Sorry!

SUMMAGOLD Nov 21st, 2009 10:33 AM

hi Tod, great website! I just sent about 20 apt inquiries from that site. hopefully one of them will be good.

How many minutes walk from Alesia metro stop to the River Seine and the heart of Latin Quarter? There is one apt that is available for our dates.

gracejoan3 Nov 21st, 2009 01:01 PM

Looks like a long walk! I will let others that may know the area better answer. Looks like a simple metro to take you into the 6th though. A nice apt? You might want to show it for someone who might be familiar with it..
