Paris Notre Dame
Is Notre Dame in the latin quater of Paris? If not which area is it in? Thanks
|
It is just across a small bridge from the Latin Quarter. But since it is in the 4th arrondissement, it is officially in the Marais.

kerouac, that's really interesting. I've always realized that Ile de Cite and Ile St. Louis are part of the 4th as is the Marais, but I never realized that Marais is a name for the whole of the 4th. Is that it? In other words both Iles are part of the Marais? I guess I always just assumed that the Marais was one part of the 4th and the two Iles were other parts of the 4th.

Hi
You can see Notre Dame on this map: http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=48852807...mp;m=a&v=2 . Zoom out to see where it is located in town :-) I have made this interactive Google map of Paris by the way http://gardkarlsen.com/paris_france_map.htm . It shows you where some of the main attractions of Paris are located and you can click on the markers for more information. Here is a map of the different districts of Paris: http://www.parisnet.net/parismap.html Regards Gard http://gardkarlsen.com - trip reports and pictures |
Technically, the 4th arrondissement (just like every other arrondissement) is split into 4 districts. The 4 districts of the 4th arrondissement are:
Quartier Saint-Merri Quartier Saint-Gervais Quartier de l'Arsenal Quartier Notre-Dame "Officially", the Marais does not exist. |
There is even a district in Paris that has the name "Amérique". It is in the 19th arrondissement.
