Paris/Normandy-spring or fall best?
We're trying to plan our 2005 vacations and we'd love to go to Paris. However, my DH said he'll have to get to Normandy if we're in France - will be our first time for both and we have approx. 7-8 days not including travel from US. I agree with most everyone on this board that there any time is a good time to go to Paris, but which you throw in Normandy I'd like the weather to be pretty good so we can walk the beaches, etc. I look forward to hearing your opinions and/or experiences. Thanks.

We were in Normandy in October and the weather was delightful. In addition to the beaches, many smaller villages are having festivals and they were great fun to attend.

We went to Normandy in late May of 2003. The weather was nearly perfect and the countryside was beautifully green and the poppies were beginning to bloom. I can't speak for fall but I can't imagine a more beautiful time to go. Anytime is a good time for Paris but May is about the best.

the month of may brings, usually, lovely weather, but also many holidays that can affect your sightseeing schedule. we were in paris and normandy last september, and both were fine as to weather. however, if you decide on september, make your hotel reservations very soon, as it's a busy month in paris for fashion and other shows.

If you go to Normandy in the spring, you stand a fairly good chance of running into a lot of history buffs all of whom are fascinating to talk to. you could in the fall as well, but many make the pilgrimage in May/June.
