Paris Nightlife

I'm travelling to Paris next week and was looking for any tips to do with going out! We will be there from Wednesday until Sunday morning, so wondering what days are best for going out at night and what areas we should stick to. I've never been before and I'm not too sure what kind of nights there are - I'm not a fan of cheese, but like electro and dubstep a lot. Does anyone have any favourite places that aren't too touristy??

Hi OS,

You might want to speak to a younger crowd at the Thorntree Forum www.lonelyplanet.com

But before you go, perhaps you could tell us what electro, dubstep and cheese are. I'm somewhat afraid of Googling those terms in that context, but I'm most curious.

they are a type of club music

I don't have any favorite places on that.

I don't think they have dubstep in Paris much, if at all

If you like jazz and are in the area, Cafe Laurent in the Hotel d'Aubusson is not only a nice spot, but well located to run outside at 10pm or 11pm, stand on a bridge and watche the Eiffel Tower flash on and off.

The 10th seems to be the area for clubs. I'll see if I can find a link that was posted here in the past for a website with club info.

I'd certainly be interested in popping along to a jazz club as well so will bear that in mind. I'm sorry to have caused confusion with the genres! Basically you can reduce it down to typical sort of club music. I live in London where there is quite a bit of dubstep anyway so I suppose it could be good to step outside the box a little!

Links would be fantastic - I am staying in the 9th so hopefully wouldn't be too far along. Thanks very much!

For jazz, I like Le Houdon in Montmartre - right on Rue des Abbesses. Small, cosy, really good service and of course, le jazz.

Sorry, can't help with clubs - it's been a LONG time since I've been to one of those (although they always came in handy after the Metro closed. ;-))

Have fun!
