Paris: Need hotel suggestions
 

We will stay one week in Paris from Dec. 25-31 and ask for recommendations of centrally-located, inexpensive hotels comfortable for and welcoming to families (our kids are 12 and 6). Also, any thoughts on family-oriented things to do during the Xmas-New Years week?

Write us directly; we spent a week in a hotel quite near the Eiffel Tower and th Ecole Militaire, twin with shower, breakfast, 60 yards from a metro stop, clean, not fancy, for about $75 a night.

You might also try Rick Steve's Paris book that gives all kinds of budget recommendations for hotels and his web site www.ricksteves.com Or if you will be there a week you could consider renting a home.

Simply key in this web site: france-hotel-guide.com and a map of Paris will appear. Click on which arrondissement (or district) appeals to you and a list of hotels appears, starting with the most stars first and ranging downward. Click on the specific hotels which appeal to you and their web pages will appear. Convert the rates in francs shown to U. S. dollars by dividing by 14 as a rough guide to costs. Some will provide breakfast for the prices shown, some will charge extra. Then take it from there by using e-mail to those hotels who give you an e-mail address.

Excuse me, moi goofed. Multiply the rate in francs shown by .14 and you get a rough idea of the cost in U.S. dollars.

Saint-Dominique - great locale - near the D'Orsay - another great deal is the Montana-Bourgogne - another great locale.

Friends of ours came to Paris with us last summer and they brought their kids, 12 & 8. The 2 things I think they found that were important were: <BR> <BR>1)a hotel where they could get a family room versus having to get 2 double rooms (paris rooms can be small. They didn't want their kids in a different room and they also wanted to save the $$ on the room. <BR> <BR>2)a hotel near a park, so the that their kids didn't get too overwhelmed by the constant "big city" pace. <BR> <BR>They stayed at the: <BR> <BR>Hotel Odeon (de l') <BR>3-stars <BR>13 rue Saint Sulpice, Paris 6th arrondissement <BR> <BR>It was fine-but it was really a "triple with a roll away. It was nice though because it was air-conditioned and had double pane windows, which made it easier for the kids to sleep. <BR> <BR>You might try searching on this forum under "family rooms Paris" and also look on hotelboulevard.com, because they list quadruples. <BR> <BR>hope this helps <BR> <BR>Jeanne

Hotel Champ du Mars but not sure if they have large rooms,w e stayed there in Jan and had 1 double bed/bathroom and armoire for about 65.00 US. My day stayed at the Hotel Mars and says its very nice and even lower price but I think they only have rooms for 2.
