Paris Navigo Semaine Now Covers 5 Zones?

The RATP site seems to indicate that the Navigo Semaine now covers 5 zones for 21.25€ (the previous cost for zones 1-2).

(a) Is that correct?

(b) Does that include CDG (zone 5) and Versailles (Zone 4) do not cost extra anymore?

Thanks.

Yes and Yes. We recharged our passes at CDG and used them on the RER to the Gare du Nord. During our stay we also used them to go to Meaux where they were good for the local bus to the World War I Museum. The Navigo passes are truly a great bargain now.

Yes, great improvement!

f1racegirl Dec 17th, 2015 08:41 AM

Yes. It's true.

You can also go to places like, Provins, Auvers sur Oise, Crecy la Chapelle and many others too.

This is great! I'll be there for a week in March and was debating which level/zones to buy, so now I don't have to choose.

Where else can one go with the pass through zone 5? Also, I assume this does not cover CDG airport?

MaineGG Dec 17th, 2015 01:22 PM

It does cover CDG. A single RER ticket between CDG and central Paris costs around E10 each way. A weekly Navigo pass at E21.25 covers those trips plus unlimited travel in the five zones for a week.

kerouac Dec 17th, 2015 01:27 PM

The only thing not covered in the scheme is the Orlyval shuttle.

I just checked and the Navigo pass is good for a calendar week, Monday AM until Sunday PM. Available for the following week from Friday.

This link allows you to plan your trips, and how far out zone 5 goes can be determined here too.

www.vianavigo.com is also very useful for planning trips in the suburbs.

This is great. For some reason I thought it would not cover the RER out to CDG. We'll be able to use for the return then.

Christina Dec 19th, 2015 08:43 AM

There are some tickets that cover zone 5 that don't include CDG, so it is a reasonable question. In fact, I'm kind of surprised they did this. I think the Mobilis zone 5 ticket doesn't cover CDG nor the Roissybus. I don't really know why as if that were the only reason you bought it, it would be cheaper just to buy the ticket to CDG on the RER.

"Where else can one go with the pass through zone 5?"

Most of the places in this wonderful (and now quite well known) book:

Thinking of going to Chantilly as a day trip. From the RATP site, it looks like this is just outside the edge of Zone 5, but a straight shot on RER D from Gare du Nord. Am I seeing that right?

If so, how does it work with a Navigo Pass? Can we get most of the way there? Do we need to buy a full ticket or a partial ticket from Gare du Nord?

kerouac Jan 9th, 2016 09:12 PM

Unfortunately, you must pay the full fare from Paris to Chantilly because you are leaving the Ile de France area which has a special subsidized fare structure. (Yes, I checked this on the SNCF site.)

In other words, it is no different than if you were taking a train from Paris to Marseille.

Kristina Jan 10th, 2016 09:33 AM

kerouac- Thanks for the quick reply. That's a bummer, though we may choose to go anyway since it looks so interesting.
I was hoping to keep costs down by buying the Navigo and the Museum Pass and sticking to places I could go with both.
Any thoughts on the other Chateau available with the Museum pass and using Navigo?
We've already been to Versailles. I was also looking at Fontainbleu and Vincennes.

Follow up question/clarification:

Does the Navigo Semaine cover the Transilien trains to zone 5?

For our upcoming visit, we are contemplating a day trip to either Provins or Crecy-la-Chapelle.

Both involve Transilien train P from Gare de l'Est. (I know there's a change at Esbly for Crecy-la-Chapelle.)

Both are in zone 5...so (hopefully) they will be covered by the Navigo Semaine...right?

Thanks.

kerouac Jan 16th, 2016 09:34 AM

Yes, the Transilien trains are covered up to zone 5.

kerouac Jan 16th, 2016 09:35 AM

For Provins, don't go on a day like I did: http://anyportinastorm.proboards.com...provins-unseen

ssander Jan 16th, 2016 12:51 PM

K...thanks for the Transilien info...and I'll keep an eye on the weather forecast if we decide to go to Provins. :-)

It covers ALL forms of public transport within zone 5, except the Orlyval. The RATP interactive map will show you what stops are within zones 1 to 5.

Thanks FMT...

I do have most of the maps from the RATP site. Keep 'em on my phone when I visit...even most of the individual bus line maps...a little overkill? :-)
